Overview

A busy family of five based in central Chichester, West Sussex, is seeking an experienced, reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Housekeeper to assist with the day-to-day upkeep of their family home. The household includes three children, a friendly Cockapoo, and a nanny who will be joining the family in November.

The family is looking for someone with a strong professional housekeeping background who can take ownership of the household's cleaning, laundry and general organisation. The family are hoping to find someone with a structured and consistent approach to housekeeping, who takes genuine pride in maintaining a beautifully presented and well-organised home. Excellent laundry and ironing skills are particularly important, alongside a natural eye for detail and the ability to anticipate what needs doing without constant direction.

This is a busy family household, and the successful candidate should be comfortable working around children and other household staff while remaining discreet and respectful of the family's privacy. Someone who is self-sufficient, methodical and happy to quietly get on with their responsibilities would be an excellent fit. A sensible and safety-conscious approach is also essential.

The schedule will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 4 hours per day, ideally starting at 9am. The family is offering approximately £25 per hour, depending on experience, and is hoping to find someone who can join them in early November for a long-term position.

Responsibilities

• General cleaning and upkeep of the home, including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas
• Managing household laundry, ironing, folding and putting clothing away, with particular attention to neatly pressed work shirts
• Changing beds and laundering household linens
• Maintaining kitchen cleanliness, including loading and unloading the dishwasher
• Regular cleaning and upkeep of household appliances, including the washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher
• Maintaining household organisation and ensuring belongings are returned to their designated places
• Undertaking periodic deep cleaning tasks as required
• Taking appropriate care of delicate garments, family crystal and household possessions
• Monitoring and replenishing household cleaning supplies
• Occasional grocery top-up shopping and small errands as needed
• Maintaining a safe and tidy environment, particularly with children present

Qualifications

• Previous professional housekeeping experience within a private household preferred
• Able to work independently and maintain consistent standards
• Discreet, professional and respectful of family privacy
• Comfortable working around children and pets
• Strong, verifiable references

Requirements

• Legal right to work in the UK
• Able to commute reliably to central Chichester

Salary and Benefits

Hourly rate approximately £25 per hour, depending on experience.
