programming, system commissioning, checkout, validation, and complex

troubleshooting on sophisticated commercial building management platforms.

your perks. All airline miles, hotel loyalty points, and rental car rewards earned

on business travel are yours to keep for personal vacations and getaways.

• Factory-Certified, OEM-Level Training: Receive direct manufacturer training

and stay on the cutting edge of modern HVAC controls, software releases, cloud

integrations, and smart building technology.

• Work From Anywhere: Live anywhere in the Continental U.S. near a

commercial airport—no relocation required.

• High-Level Autonomy & Respect: You aren't just turning a wrench; you are a

trusted technical advisor consulting with Project Managers, Controls Specialists,

Field Engineers, and sub-contractors on complex engineered solutions.

• Unrivaled Career Mobility: ACES has a proven track record of serving as an

accelerator for top talent. Team alumni have advanced into:

• Principal Technical & Software Programming Roles

• Field & People Leadership / Regional Service Management

• Project Engineering & Project Management

• Controls Product Development & Validation Testing

• Energy Engineering & Solutions Architecture

• Technical Account Engineering & Training

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Controls Technician on the ACES team, you will bring complex building automation systems from blueprint to flawless operation:

• Advanced System Commissioning & Programming: Program, calibrate,

validate, and commission complex DDC/BAS architectures for commercial,

industrial, healthcare, education, and mission-critical facilities.

• Elite Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Serve as the frontline technical

authority tackling difficult system integration issues, communication bus faults,

network anomalies, and sequence-of-operation discrepancies.

• Remote & On-Site Field Support: Provide both hands-on site support and

remote connected troubleshooting to local Trane field technicians, project

engineers, and mechanical sub-contractors.

• Standards & QA Leadership: Review, establish, and enforce programming and

installation standards, ensuring best practices and code compliance across

offices.

• Product Validation & Innovation: Collaborate with engineering teams to test,

evaluate, and provide real-world feedback on new, existing, and next-generation

Trane hardware and software releases.

• Client & Team Collaboration: Deliver outstanding customer satisfaction by

working closely with building engineers, facility directors, and project teams to

hand over fully optimized, energy-efficient systems.

What You Bring

• Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in the commercial HVAC/BAS

industry as a Controls Technician, Commissioning Specialist, or Controls Project

Specialist.

• Technical Depth: In-depth knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems (chillers, air

handlers, central plants, VAV systems) and direct digital control (DDC)

applications.

• System Familiarity: Demonstrated proficiency in programming,

commissioning, and troubleshooting Trane building automation systems

(Tracer® SC+, Synchrony, Ensemble, TU) or comparable industry platforms

(Tridium/Niagara N4, Johnson Controls Metasys, Automated Logic, Distech,

Siemens, or Honeywell).

• Education: An Associate degree (2+ years) in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering

Technology, Building Automation Systems, HVAC Technology, or equivalent

military/field experience.

• Mobility & Licensing: Ability and willingness to travel 75%+ within the

continental U.S. (with occasional international travel). Must hold a valid driver’s

license with an insurable driving history.

• Communication & Leadership: Strong communication skills with the ability to

articulate technical solutions to both technical peers and non-technical

stakeholders.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This role blends hands-on mechanical room and rooftop site work with digital

diagnostic programming:

• Comfort working at heights, including climbing extension and fixed ladders up to

20 feet (and occasionally 50+ feet), and walking rooftops in various outdoor

weather conditions.

• Ability to routinely stand on concrete surfaces for up to 4 hours at a time.

• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach overhead, squat to floor level, and maneuver

in mechanical spaces and confined areas (as small as 30” vertical x 45”

• Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and carry tools and equipment weighing up to 40
