REPORTS TO: Custodial Quality Supervisor


GENERAL EXPECTATIONS: Janitorial Crew Chief I is responsible for assisting consumers to complete cleaning of designated contracts in a safe and proper manner. This position may be based on the ability to maintain customer contracts in a satisfactory manner.

Responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with CWTC’s mission, policies, and in a manner that supports individuals with disabilities. All employees are required to attend mandated training sessions.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1.    Instruct consumers in cleaning and maintaining areas of the buildings or contracts in a safe and proper manner
  2.    Properly complete consumer detailed paperwork by 11:00 a.m. and all outside contract payroll paperwork
  3.    Ensure equipment is operable and supplies are available for completion of contracts
  4.    Cleaning of designated areas per contracts or supervisor’s instructions
  5.    Responsible for coverage for all outside contracts & NISH contracts for vacations & absenteeism 
  6.    Responsible for weekly supply & condiments inventory
  7.    Responsible for filling material requisitions on stores & following proper paperwork & procedures
  8.    Responsible for monthly inspections/cleaning of eyewash stations and bi-annual draining/filling stations

OTHER DUTIES:

  1.  Daily check off lists, if required
  2.  Report all concerns to supervisor
  3.  Encourage consumers to work to their highest capacity 
  4.  Coordinate multiple assignments concurrently
  5.  Perform other tasks, not inconsistent with qualifications or regular duties as assigned   

WORKING CONDITIONS: Physical requirements include lifting, pulling, pushing (possibly up to 60 pounds), bending, walking, and standing for long periods of time. Environmental factors include working indoors around dust, cardboard, and moving equipment and working outdoors around pollen, heat, cold and around slippery surfaces. Interpersonal factors include listening to consumer issues, giving verbal encouragement of proper work habits and being able to direct consumer work in a tactful manner.

RELATED CONDITION: All employees are responsible for reporting any information, however acquired, pertaining to possible abuse or neglect of consumers to the Director of Quality Improvement, the Safety Director, or the Executive Director.

SAFETY AND ACCIDENT PREVENTION: Employees must follow all safety policies and use necessary protective equipment when applicable. Employees are responsible for reporting safety hazards and/or accidents to their supervisors immediately. 


Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Valid drivers’ license, current auto insurance and reliable transportation (if required by contract)
  3. Previous experience in janitorial work preferred
  4. Previous experience with adults with disabilities helpful
