FUNCTIONAL ANALYST PRINCIPAL
We are seeking an experienced aviation professional with hands-on experience supporting MD 530 and/or AH-6i helicopters. The ideal candidate will hold an FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate, an Inspection Authorization (IA), and/or an engineering degree in Aviation, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Mission Critical work and Impact:
As a Functional Analyst Principal, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of hands-on experience supporting MD 530 and/or AH-6i helicopters You will play a crucial role in support aircraft maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, airworthiness, modification programs, and engineering activities for FMS MD 530 and AH-6i helicopter platforms.
- Interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, technical orders, engineering drawings, service bulletins, and manufacturer documentation.
- Support aircraft return-to-service activities.
- Ideny mectifhanical, electrical, hydraulic, avionics, and structural discrepancies.
- Assist with aircraft modifications, upgrades, integration projects, and configuration management.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel, engineers, pilots, quality assurance, logistics, and customers.
- Review maintenance records and ensure accurate completion of logbooks, work orders, inspection forms, and technical documentation.
- Support root-cause analysis and corrective-action development for recurring aircraft discrepancies.
- Assist with aircraft acceptance, delivery, deployment, and field-service activities.
- Provide technical guidance.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with applicable occupational and aviation safety requirements.
- Travel or deploy to customer and operational locations as required.
What you'll need to succeed:
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate or equivalent aviation maintenance qualification.
- Experience maintaining or supporting MD 530, AH-6, or related light attack/reconnaissance helicopters.
- Experience with aircraft maintenance manuals, inspection procedures, technical publications, and maintenance documentation.
- Ability to troubleshoot aircraft systems and accurately identify mechanical and technical discrepancies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required medical certifications, and customer qualifications.
- Security clearance level: Secret
Preferred Qualifications
- FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).
- Bachelor’s degree in aviation, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with AH-6i mission systems, weapons integration, avionics, sensors, communications, or aircraft modifications.
- Experience with military aviation maintenance programs or foreign military sales programs.
- Familiarity with FAA, U.S. military, or OEM maintenance and airworthiness requirements.
- Experience using electronic maintenance tracking systems and technical data repositories.
- Previous experience supporting deployed, international, or field-service operations.
- Helicopter maintenance experience on platforms such as the MD 500 series, AH-6, MH-6, OH-58, or similar aircraft.
Education and Experience
- A&P-only candidates: Typically, 5 or more years of relevant helicopter maintenance experience, including experience with MD 530 or AH-6 aircraft.
- A&P/IA candidates: Previous inspection or quality-assurance experience is preferred.
- Engineering candidates: Bachelor’s degree in aviation, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline, plus relevant rotorcraft maintenance, engineering, or modification experience.
Physical and Work Requirements
- Ability to work around aircraft, engines, tools, fuels, hydraulic fluids, and other aviation materials.
- Ability to work outdoors, in hangars, and in austere or deployed environments.
- Ability to lift, carry, climb, bend, kneel, and work in confined aircraft spaces.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, overtime, weekends, and holidays when required.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
The likely salary range for this position is $119,000 - $161,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
