Recruitment Range: Up to $59,987The position is designated Statutory Exempt (EHRA) and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act
This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work. Any telework will be under the conditions of the state Teleworking Program Policy and the employer may end any teleworking arrangement at any time in the employer's sole discretion.

We currently have an opening for a HR Technician III.
The HR Technician III serves as a liaison and point of contact between North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) Human Resources (HR) and NCDIT-Transportation staff for managing and carrying out NCDIT-Transportation recruitment related programs, directives, and policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide instruction, direction, and oversight to the NCDIT-Transportation division for HR related functions as it relates to recruitment/selection and salary administration
• Provide consultation regarding recruitment of IT occupations for NCDIT-Transportation. Work involves providing technical guidance and program support to hiring managers for developing and publishing vacancy announcements/job postings, monitoring the quality of applicant pools
• Discuss posting requests with managers to identify required skills vs. desirable skills
• Identify qualifying salaries, and complete recommendation packages to ensure they follow up-to-date salary administration and recruiting policies
• Review the recommended candidate’s experience, education, and skills to make the initial salary recommendation which is subject to review by NCDIT-Transportation supervisor and final review by Central HR Recruitment Manager/HR Director
• Enter and retrieve data, generate reports, and initiate PA actions accurately and timely
About the Division:
The North Carolina Department of Information Technology provides Information Technology support to governmental and educational entities in the state as well as establishing the strategic vision for information technology in state government and implementing an enterprise-wide approach for all information technology services. The primary purpose of Information Technology in the North Carolina Department of Information Technology – Transportation division is to provide the full spectrum of information processing services and support for information processing services in the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:
- Demonstrated knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and practices
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, work under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines
- Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and Workday
Minimum Education and Experience

Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 2 years of experience required
OR
Three (3) years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
