The Data Governance Advisor plays a critical role in operationalising and continuously improving Prudential Vietnam's Data Governance Framework. This position is responsible for driving enterprise Data Quality Management, Metadata Management, Data Stewardship, and Critical Data Element (CDE) governance to ensure that data is trusted, protected, compliant, and effectively utilized for business and regulatory purposes.
The role collaborates closely with Business Data Owners, Data Stewards, Technology teams, Risk, Compliance, Security, Data Privacy, and Group stakeholders to strengthen data governance practices, improve data management maturity, and support data-driven decision making.
Responsibility:
• Governance Framework Implementation:
- Support the implementation, adoption, and continuous enhancement of Data Governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with Group requirements and local regulations.
- Monitor governance effectiveness and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
• Data Ownership & Stewardship:
- Coordinate and support the network of Data Owners and Data Stewards across the organization.
- Facilitate governance activities, ownership alignment, and stewardship practices to ensure clear accountability for enterprise data assets.
- Support business domains in defining and maintaining Critical Data Elements (CDEs), business definitions, and ownership structures
• Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with data governance policies and procedures throughout the organization.
• Regulatory Compliance:
- Support monitoring and reporting of compliance with Data Governance policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in addressing audit findings, risk assessments, and remediation activities related to data governance and management.
• Metadata Management:
- Lead enterprise Metadata Management activities including Business Glossary, Data Catalogue, Metadata maintenance, and Data Lineage documentation.
- Promote metadata standards and improve data discoverability, transparency, and understanding across the organization
• Data Quality Management:
- Lead Data Quality Management activities including Critical Data Element (CDE) identification, Data Quality rule definition, threshold management, monitoring, and reporting.
- Coordinate Data Quality issue identification, root cause analysis, remediation planning, and progress tracking.
- Develop and maintain Data Quality metrics, KPIs, and reporting dashboards for management and governance forums
• Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Business Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Engineering, Data Privacy, Security, Risk, Compliance, and Group stakeholders to align governance standards, requirements, and priorities.
- Act as a trusted governance advisor for business and technology teams regarding data management practices and governance requirements
• Training and Advocacy:
- Provide training, awareness sessions, and guidance to stakeholders on Data Governance policies, standards, procedures, and tools.
- Promote a culture of data ownership, stewardship, and accountability across the organization.
• Issue Management & Governance Reporting
- Coordinate the identification, escalation, root cause analysis, and remediation tracking of data governance and Data Quality issues.
- Prepare governance reports, KPIs, and updates for Data Governance Council and relevant management forums.
- Track governance actions and ensure timely closure of agreed remediation activities.
Job requirements:
1. Technical Skills
Preferred certifications:
- DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or equivalent Data Management certification.
- Knowledge of Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Quality Management, Master Data Management, and Enterprise Data Management practices.
- Project Management skill is advantageous.
2. General Skills
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Strong communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
- Process design, documentation, and governance framework implementation experience.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
- Ability to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
- Fluent business English.
3. Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Management, Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Quality, Metadata Management, Enterprise Data Management, or related data disciplines.
- Experience working with Data Governance platforms such as Informatica, Collibra, Microsoft Purview, or equivalent solutions.
- Experience in financial services, insurance, or highly regulated industries is preferred.
- Experience working with regional or global governance frameworks is an advantage.
