Job Description Summary
The Lead Sourcing Specialist - Tender and Project Sourcing (Durgapur) will be responsible for leading sourcing and procurement activities for pressure vessel parts and pressure parts. This role requires strong expertise in supplier development, strategic sourcing, commercial negotiations, cost optimization, quality, delivery performance, and compliance with applicable engineering and industry requirements.The ideal candidate will have significant experience in sourcing engineered components, preferably within industries such as power, oil & gas, heavy engineering, boilers, pressure vessels, static equipment, or related manufacturing environments. The candidate should be capable of working closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure reliable and cost-effective supply of critical pressure-containing components.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Lead sourcing activities for pressure vessel parts and pressure parts, including supplier identification, qualification, development, and performance management.
Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives for cost, quality, delivery, and risk mitigation.
Manage supplier relationships for critical engineered components and ensure continuity of supply.
Drive supplier negotiations covering pricing, commercial terms, contracts, delivery schedules, and long-term agreements.
Partner with engineering and quality teams to ensure suppliers meet technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
Support supplier selection and qualification processes for pressure vessel and pressure part manufacturing.
Monitor supplier performance through key metrics such as on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, and cost competitiveness.
Identify and implement cost reduction, productivity, and value engineering opportunities without compromising quality or compliance.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including engineering, project management, manufacturing, quality, and logistics teams.
Assess supply market conditions, supplier capabilities, and business risks to proactively address supply constraints.
Ensure compliance with company sourcing policies, EHS requirements, and applicable industry codes and standards.
Resolve supplier-related issues and drive corrective actions to support business continuity and customer commitments.
Maintain accurate sourcing documentation, contracts, and supplier records.
Support localization, dual sourcing, and supplier capacity expansion initiatives where applicable.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, from an accredited university or college.
Minimum 10 years of work experience in sourcing, procurement, supplier development, or supply chain management for engineered/mechanical components.
Demonstrated experience in sourcing pressure vessel parts and pressure parts.
Strong commercial negotiation and supplier management experience.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to pressure parts, fabricated components, machined parts, forgings, castings, welding, and heat treatment.
Experience working with technical drawings, specifications, and quality requirements for engineered products.
Alternate Qualification
Diploma in Engineering may also be considered provided the candidate has substantial and relevant experience in sourcing pressure vessel parts, pressure parts, or similar engineered components.
Desired Characteristics
Strong understanding of pressure vessel/pressure part supply base and manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and compliance requirements relevant to pressure-containing components.
