Position Summary
Field Engineers are responsible for various aspects of construction projects. The Field Engineer will generally report to a jobsite field office, whose location generally requires local or regional travel. Field Engineers may be assigned to a single project or multiple projects. Field Engineers support daily field operations, working directly with construction crews and subcontractors, ensuring that projects are completed on time, on budget, and on quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections and observations for construction projects, which may include, but are not limited to: the construction of surface street improvements (i.e., paving, curb and gutter, sidewalk, etc.), bridges, storm drains and boxes, underground utility systems including lift stations, reservoirs, pressure stations, force mains, parks, grading, fine grading and private street systems, street lights and traffic signals, pipe laying for alignment, grade, jointing, fittings and materials, subgrade and base grade for compaction, alignment, grades and materials.
- Inspect, monitor and investigate activities related to compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and stormwater Programs, and ensure compliance with regulations relative to stormwater runoff.
- Coordinate construction and inspection services in cooperation with contractors and other agencies; communicates and confers with representatives of utility companies, contractors, public agencies and the public.
- Coordinate with the project superintendents regarding daily schedules including people, equipment, materials, subcontractors, suppliers, etc.
- Prepare daily reports as related to crews, progress, issues, and detailed findings of inspections, observations, and test results.
- Maintains logs, records, record drawing (as-builts).
- Reviews plans, specifications and sites for construction projects.
- Coordinate and monitor the work of subcontractors.
- Document any delays and/or changes to scope of work.
- Enforce project specification and verify contractor compliance with codes, regulations, site materials, specifications, blue prints, plans, sketches, actual construction, scheduling of training, alterations, repairs, improvements, reports, change orders, and safety.
- May perform quantity tracking (including calculations) and cost coding for purposes of productivity analysis and accurate job cost forecasting.
- Assist in preparation of final records for the project, including as-builts.
- Perform daily on-site inspections for sewer rehab construction projects
Requirements
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or Scientific discipline from an accredited college, or specialized courses in Construction Management or equivalent experience and training.

This is a full-time position with a base salary that ranges between $120,000 - $130,000 per year. In addition to salary, you are eligible for equity and a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k, and PTO.
