The Center: Resources for Teaching and Learning, is a nationally recognized, nonprofit professional development and educational services organization dedicated to better teaching and learning in early childhood, elementary, secondary and adult education. The Center also provides statewide communications support for schools and districts, assisting leaders with internal and external communication needs. At The Center, we oversee programs supporting high-quality education for at-risk students, including English Learners, young children facing challenges, and immigrant populations. Initiatives include adult education (Adult Learning Resource Center), early childhood services (Early Childhood Developmental Enrichment Center), special needs support (Star Net Region II), professional development for diverse learners (Illinois Resource Center), and tech-based instructional assessments (Technology Center for Teaching and Learning).

Position Description – What the Role Entails:

• The Family Engagement Specialist supports the FIND/PI programs by facilitating enrollment, conducting outreach, and maintaining resources for families.
• You will be responsible for identifying under-resourced families, completing initial screenings using ASQ-3 and ASQ-2; SE 2.
• This role reports to the FIND Supervisor.

Areas of Accountability - What you will be doing:

• Identify and enroll families using FIND/PI weighted criteria form.
• Complete initial ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE2 screenings for new families.
• Input SIS data and contact new families to complete enrollment paperwork.
• Create and distribute program flyers and playgroup calendars.
• Maintain and update the program’s social media page with events and family resources.
• Catalog all FIND classroom/lending library materials, including toys, books, and videos.
• Facilitate check-in and check-out of lending library materials, clean, and reshelve items.
• Arrange childcare for workshops as needed.
• Facilitate Promise to Pay groups as needed.
• Maintain program and staff records in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Attend required program in-services, conferences, and trainings.
• Attend FIND/PI advisory board meetings as requested.
• Attend community meetings and events.
• Assess family needs and provide developmentally appropriate guidance and resources.
• Coordinate services with other community programs and agencies.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Schedule: Monday through Friday during standard business hours, occasional evenings or weekends as needed.

Position Qualifications – What is required to Perform the Role:

• High School diploma or equivalent (BA/BS preferred).
• Bilingual Spanish/English required (bicultural preferred).
• Strong computer skills, including Google Suit, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience in community outreach or family engagement preferred.
• Ability to complete clerical tasks, organize materials, and maintain records.
• Commitment to serving diverse and at-risk populations.
