Description
POSH specializes in innovative battery energy storage solutions and lifecycle management. We are committed to sustainability and pushing the boundaries in energy storage and recycling technologies.
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Battery Energy Storage Sales and Business Development Manager to lead the sale and deployment of behind-the-meter (BTM) battery energy storage solutions (BESS) within the PJM market. This role is specifically focused on selling and deploying behind-the-meter battery energy storage projects for commercial, industrial, and institutional customers in the PJM region, and we are looking for candidates with direct, hands-on experience navigating PJM’s interconnection process and monetizing behind-the-meter storage across PJM’s capacity, energy, demand response, and ancillary services markets. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the PJM behind-the-meter storage market, customer economics (including demand charge management and resilience), the regulatory landscape, project finance, and the technical aspects of BTM BESS deployment. This role requires a strong entrepreneurial spirit, exceptional negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
What You’ll Own:
Architect our PJM revenue models: Build and refine the financial models that value our behind-the-meter projects across customer bill savings (demand charge and energy management) and PJM capacity, energy, demand response, and ancillary services markets, running sensitivity analyses that support investment and off-take decisions.
Lock down customer sites: Identify, evaluate, and secure behind-the-meter host sites across the PJM footprint, owning site diligence including host customer qualification, load and tariff analysis, site assessments, and host/lease agreement negotiation.
Sell and deploy BTM BESS: Drive the sale and deployment of behind-the-meter battery energy storage solutions to commercial, industrial, and institutional customers operating in PJM, structuring and closing deals using a deep understanding of customer economics and PJM market participation.
Own permitting and stakeholders: Lead the permitting process (land use, environmental, building permits) and serve as the primary point of contact for host customers, PJM member utilities, communities, government officials, and regulatory bodies.
Manage delivery: Own project schedules, budgets, and deliverables, report status to senior management, and transition projects smoothly to the execution/EPC team at ready-to-build status while identifying and mitigating risks throughout.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience selling and deploying behind-the-meter battery energy storage solutions (BESS), with direct, demonstrated experience in the PJM market (including PJM interconnection and behind-the-meter participation in capacity, energy, demand response, and ancillary services markets).
Proven track record of successfully selling and deploying behind-the-meter battery energy storage projects in PJM.
Deep understanding of the PJM behind-the-meter storage market, customer economics, technologies, and value streams.
Strong knowledge of the PJM interconnection process and market structure, as well as broader regulatory frameworks (FERC, ISO/RTOs) and state/local permitting requirements.
Demonstrated experience with host customer qualification, tariff analysis, and host/lease agreement negotiation.
Proficiency in financial modeling and project valuation.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites and stakeholder meetings.
Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Haves):
Energy Tool Base or Xendee
In-depth understanding of PJM power market dynamics, demand response programs, and energy trading.
Previous experience working for a developer, utility, energy services company, or independent power producer active in the PJM behind-the-meter market.
