Senior Contract Administrator

We are recruiting for an established, multidisciplinary architecture and design firm in Toronto seeking an experienced Lead Contract Administrator to oversee the construction phase of complex architectural projects.

This is a senior-level opportunity for someone who brings strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and the confidence to lead construction administration activities, manage project stakeholders, and resolve challenges on site.

Working closely with Project Managers, architects, consultants, and contractors, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with design intent, contract documents, quality standards, and client expectations.

What You’ll Do

• Lead contract administration activities from construction commencement through project closeout, providing technical direction and guidance to project teams.
• Oversee shop drawing and submittal reviews, RFIs, change orders, payment certification, deficiency reviews, and closeout documentation.
• Conduct site visits to review construction progress, assess general conformity with contract documents, and identify and resolve technical issues.
• Lead and participate in Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings, coordinating with contractors, consultants, and clients to address construction challenges.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for construction-related matters, maintaining clear communication between the site and design team.
• Review drawings and documentation for constructability, coordination, and technical accuracy.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to develop construction-phase work plans, monitor budgets, and manage project deliverables.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to team members involved in contract administration.
• Proactively identify potential risks and work collaboratively to develop practical solutions that maintain project quality and schedules.

What You’ll Bring

• Diploma in Architectural Technology or degree in Architecture.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in an architectural practice, including substantial hands-on contract administration experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead construction administration on complex architectural projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, building systems, detailing, and contract documentation.
• Experience managing RFIs, shop drawings, change orders, payment applications, site reviews, and deficiency resolution.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and the roles and responsibilities of architects, consultants, and contractors.
• Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to manage challenging site situations.
• Ability to lead and mentor team members while maintaining strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
• Valid Ontario G driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle for site visits and occasional out-of-province travel.

Salary: $115,000–$145,000
