Ophelia Tavern & Bar Top are now open at The Dale in Avondale Estates, and we’re seeking dependable, energetic Server Assistants who take pride in teamwork, attentive hospitality, and keeping service running smoothly.

Ophelia Tavern is a refined neighborhood gathering place serving Italian-inspired comfort food in a welcoming, no-fuss atmosphere. Our menu features pizzas crisped in 600-degree ovens, pastas tossed in scratch-made sauces, thoughtfully prepared entrées, sandwiches, salads, and small plates made for sharing. Inviting indoor and patio seating complement handcrafted cocktails, a whiskey-forward bar program, and a well-rounded selection of beer and wine.

Located upstairs, Bar Top is a 21-and-over rooftop bar featuring a spacious covered patio overlooking the Town Green at The Dale, along with a cozy indoor bar, fireplace, and private event space.

As a Server Assistant, you play an active role in the guest experience. From delivering food accurately to clearing and resetting tables, your attention to detail and sense of urgency help our team provide organized, welcoming service. We’re looking for people who anticipate needs, communicate clearly, and stay engaged throughout a busy shift.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous restaurant, food runner, busser, or server assistant experience preferred
• Experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant is a plus
• A friendly, professional, and hospitality-focused attitude
• A strong work ethic and sense of urgency
• Ability to follow directions and prioritize multiple tasks
• Attention to detail when delivering food and maintaining tables
• Willingness to learn menu items, ingredients, garnishes, table numbers, and seat positions
• Clear communication and a team-first mentality
• Ability to remain organized and focused during busy service
• Dependability, punctuality, and a professional appearance
• Willingness to support the entire service team
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events

Position Responsibilities

• Deliver food promptly to the correct tables and guests using table and seat numbers
• Coordinate with the expo team and follow direction on when orders are ready to leave the kitchen
• Verify dishes, required garnishes, modifications, and accompanying items with expo before delivery
• Communicate allergy-related orders and concerns according to company procedures
• Learn menu items well enough to identify and announce dishes accurately
• Bring appropriate plates, utensils, pizza stands, and other service items as needed
• Support food delivery throughout the dining room, patio, bar, and upstairs at Bar Top
• Assist servers with water service and non-alcoholic beverage refills as directed
• Clear finished plates, used glassware, and unnecessary items courteously
• Clean and reset tables promptly according to company standards
• Communicate table readiness to the host and service teams
• Keep service stations stocked with clean plates, utensils, napkins, and other supplies
• Transport used dishes and glassware to the proper areas and organize them safely
• Maintain clean, organized service areas and clear walkways
• Address spills promptly and follow company safety procedures
• Communicate guest requests and concerns to the assigned server or manager
• Complete opening, running, and closing side work
• Help roll silverware and complete assigned daily cleaning duties
• Support private events and special functions as scheduled
• Work closely with servers, hosts, bartenders, kitchen staff, and managers to keep service coordinated

• Accurate food delivery using table and seat numbers
• Clear communication with expo before leaving the kitchen
• Attention to order modifications, garnishes, and required service items
• Proper handling of plates, glassware, and utensils
• Prompt, courteous clearing and resetting of tables
• Awareness of guest needs and timely communication with servers
• Clean, stocked, and organized service stations
• Safe movement through dining areas and on stairs
• Professionalism and teamwork during high-volume service

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant support experience preferred
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to learn floor plans, seat numbers, and food presentation standards
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to safely carry plates, trays, and service supplies
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and use stairs throughout the shift
• Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Commitment to food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards

Schedule & Availability

Applicants should have flexible availability to support restaurant service, weekend business, and private events. Specific shifts and reporting times will be discussed during the interview process.
