## Job Description
As a Staff Engineer within the HIG HBM Product Engineering Advanced Data Analytics team, you will play a key technical leadership role in advancing data-driven engineering capabilities for HBM products.
You will spearhead high-impact initiatives leveraging advanced data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve product yield, quality, reliability, and engineering efficiency. You will develop innovative analytics solutions, enhance product disposition and wafer/die-level screening methodologies, establish proactive yield and quality deviation detection systems, and strengthen data and analytics infrastructure.
As a senior technical contributor, you will provide technical mentorship, influence engineering direction, and drive innovation and AI-enabled ways of working across the organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams within and outside HBM to solve complex engineering challenges and achieve strategic and tactical objectives, with a strong focus on Quality, Cost, Cycle Time, and Scale.
## Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Analytics for Yield Improvement and Reliability: Apply statistical analysis, machine learning, AI, and engineering domain knowledge to analyze complex engineering data, identify yield and reliability signatures, uncover potential root causes, and translate insights into actionable improvements.
- Cumulative Yield and Quality Improvement: Lead and contribute to cross-functional initiatives to identify yield opportunities and drive sustainable improvements in overall yield, quality, and product performance across the HBM product lifecycle.
- AI/ML Model and Algorithm Development: Develop, validate, and deploy advanced algorithms, including machine learning and deep learning models, for data mining, pattern recognition, anomaly detection, wafer/die-level screening, product disposition, yield improvement, and quality enhancement.
- Proactive Deviation Detection and Monitoring: Develop scalable analytics and early-warning solutions to proactively identify yield, quality, product, and process deviations, enabling faster containment, investigation, and corrective actions.
- Data and Analytics Infrastructure: Drive improvements in data infrastructure, automation, visualization, and analytics workflows to enable faster and more scalable engineering decision-making.
- Cross-Functional Technical Leadership: Collaborate closely with Fab, HBM Technology Development, HBM Design, System Development, Product Engineering, and Quality/Reliability teams to solve complex product and manufacturing challenges and enable successful product delivery.
- Technical Mentorship and Capability Building: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, promote best practices in advanced analytics and AI/ML, and strengthen the team's overall technical capabilities.
- Innovation and Technology Leadership: Identify and champion innovative methodologies, technologies, and engineering approaches that improve engineering effectiveness, accelerate learning cycles, and provide differentiated technical capabilities.
- AI-Enabled Ways of Working and Continuous Improvement: Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into daily engineering work to improve efficiency, quality, and effectiveness while exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements. Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within the scope of work.
## Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related engineering/technical field.
- Strong engineering background with demonstrated experience in data analytics, statistical analysis, data mining, or data-driven engineering problem-solving.
- Proficiency in Python and relevant data-analysis tools and libraries, with the ability to analyze large and complex engineering datasets.
- Experience developing and applying machine learning techniques, including regression, classification, clustering, anomaly detection, pattern recognition, or other advanced analytics methodologies.
- Experience with data visualization and business intelligence platforms such as Power BI and Tableau, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable engineering insights.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives, solve challenging engineering problems, and influence cross-functional teams toward measurable outcomes.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts and analytical findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, memory products, product engineering, yield engineering, manufacturing analytics, or quality/reliability is highly desirable. Experience with DRAM or HBM products would be an advantage.
- AI/ML Technical Leadership and Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in developing and applying machine learning, deep learning, and AI solutions to complex engineering or manufacturing challenges. Ability to apply strong digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to responsibly and effectively leverage AI-enabled tools and technologies for research, data analysis, problem-solving, decision-making, engineering productivity, and achieving business outcomes, while exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
