Description
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager with hands-on commercial general contracting experience to join our team and support our construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout.
This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of key project activities, coordinate field and office operations, and develop the skills needed to advance into a full Project Manager position with our company.
We are looking for someone with a solid understanding of commercial construction processes, project documentation, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and cost controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Support commercial construction projects, including renovations and tenant improvements, from initial planning and procurement through completion.
- Coordinate daily project activities with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, superintendents, and clients.
- Prepare, distribute, and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, meeting minutes, and project correspondence.
- Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and contracts to identify discrepancies, missing information, and coordination issues.
- Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, tracking milestones, and addressing potential delays.
- Monitor budgets, committed costs, invoices, purchasing activities, and change orders to support effective financial control.
- Coordinate material orders, delivery schedules, subcontractor sequencing, and jobsite logistics.
- Attend project meetings, document decisions, assign follow-up actions, and track outstanding issues through resolution.
- Conduct jobsite visits to monitor progress, document field conditions, and coordinate solutions with our superintendents and project teams.
- Support inspections, punch-list completion, warranty items, client turnover, and final project closeout.
- Identify potential schedule delays, cost overruns, procurement challenges, and scope changes before they affect project delivery.
- Assist with subcontractor coordination, project reporting, and communication between our field and office teams.
- Gradually assume greater responsibility for scheduling, cost management, subcontractor coordination, and overall project execution.
