The City of Durham’s Community Partnerships & Engagement Department leads inclusive, coordinated, and data-driven community engagement across all departments. By centralizing efforts, we streamline communication, maximize resources, and ensure consistent, high-quality outreach. Equity is at the core of our mission—centering the voices of historically marginalized communities through integrated Digital Inclusion, Language Access, and ADA programs. We serve as the hub for all engagement initiatives, helping the City connect more effectively with residents and make better, more inclusive decisions.

The Part-Time Participatory Budgeting Communications & Engagement Analyst is a 25-hour-per-week position that supports marketing, communications, content creation, and community outreach for Durham’s Participatory Budgeting (PB) program.

The analyst will create engaging content that helps residents learn about PB and participate in idea collection, proposal development, voting, and community events. Content may include short videos, reels, graphics, flyers, social media posts, photos, and community stories.

This is a great opportunity for a college, masters student or early-career professional interested in communications, marketing, graphic design, digital media, or community engagement. Some evening and weekend availability is required.
