Description

Meet the team:

The R&D Mechanical Engineering Characterization Team is responsible for the feasibility and development of next-generation products at Dexcom. We’re seeking a cross-functionally disciplined engineering manager with subject matter expertise across mechanics, materials, and electronic wearable devices to lead the characterization and materials team in developing technologically advanced products for high volume production. Positioned within the Mechanical Engineering team, this is a high visibility, high impact role in achieving Dexcom’s product performance and reliability goals through delivering functional excellence in the research, development, and characterization of enabling technologies/designs & their integration to a product ecosystem.

Where you come in:

  • As a manager within the mechanical engineering characterization team, you will be accountable for development test strategy, metrology tools, execution of performance testing, data analysis and system integration characterization for mechanical engineering.
  • You will integrate characterization efforts with the rest of the product sub-systems and across functions to achieve a successful launch that meets reliability, cost, and performance targets.
  • You will lead the test characterization team in developing world class metrology tools for wearable devices and needle-based delivery mechanisms.
  • You will lead a team of materials engineers, ensuring that adhesives and polymer material properties are linked to product performance
  • In collaboration with advanced research, design verification, and operations teams, you will create and mature measurement systems and methodologies to characterize, verify, and validate Dexcom products.
  • You will develop and manage strong relationships and enhance communication with upstream technology research teams and downstream product development process recipients (Design Verification, Operations, Commercial) to enable end-to-end concurrent engineering as a keystone of product design, in collaboration with project management, and product owner teams.

What makes you successful:

  • You have extensive test development (fixture design, programming, test procedure and protocol development, etc.) and characterization experience in the medical device industry, working in a high-volume market.
  • You have experience managing and/or leading engineering professionals to deliver high impact results and supporting their career growth and development.
  • You inspire others through leading by example, providing healthy challenges, and delivering effective feedback that has a measurable impact on team and individual growth.
  • You bring depth of test development knowledge and system integration experience in a multidisciplinary product ecosystem (examples below)
  • Products requiring characterization and testing of multiphysics devices (E.g. electromechanical devices, wearables, biosensors, etc.).
  • Direct experience with testing and analyzing plastic components, including materials and polymer chemistry and experience in testing and analyzing plastic components.
  • You have a track record of leading teams to deliver technical excellence, meeting timelines for development, translating technology to design at scale, and executing projects as a technical leader with regular visibility to senior management.
  • You have a solid understanding of statistics, with the ability to execute analyses (JMP or Minitab), to support engineering decisions
  • You thrive in environments where there is ambiguity or uncertainty in product requirements and have a willingness to try and test new ideas, coupled with a track record of success in innovation in a fast-paced R&D environment.
  • You exercise judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.
  • You have excellent communication (written and verbal), collaboration, personal interaction and liaison skills.
  • For you, engineering excellence is a top priority, and you achieve that not only through your work but influence that in your team and collaboration with others as well.

What you’ll get:

  • A front row seat to life changing CGM technology. Learn about our brave #dexcomwarriors community.
  • A full and comprehensive benefits program.
