Description
The Health and Safety (HSE) Officer is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of health safety & environmental policies and programs to ensure a safe work environment for employees and compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining HSE policies, procedures, and standard
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant local, and international health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Immediate investigations of community environmental complaints if any to reduce recurrence
- Conducting regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and control measures
- Investigating accidents, near-misses, and incidents promptly and thoroughly
- Developing and maintaining emergency response plans for all locations and conduct periodically test an emergency preparedness plan and reporting on its performance.
- Implement suitable safety, Health, and Environmental training programs such as induction, safety talk toolbox etc.
- Conducting planned and routine HSE inspections, audits and assessments are conducted of workplaces, equipment, and facilities to validate and improve both legal and business standards.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date HSE records, including accident reports, inspection reports, and training cords.
- Acting as primary contact with 3rd parties such as HSE related regulatory bodies.
- Providing workable solutions to HSE challenges whilst also driving a program of related continuous improvement
- Developing and maintaining strategies to excel in the prevention of accidents and environmental pollution in liaison with relevant officers/institutions.
- Maintenance of internal safety, Health, and environmental communication and management systems.
- Aid site managers in investigating and reporting of accident, hazard and near-miss events, providing result generating corrective/preventative action where required (collaboration)
- Ensuring HSE reports are submitted as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience a health, Safety & environmental officer or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems & risk assessment techniques.
- Occupational Health and Safety institute.
