Job Description:

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking an AOC Weapon System (WS) Senior SME / Systems Engineer to join our growing team supporting the Air Operations Center Weapon System (AOC WS) program. The position is in Hampton, Virginia.

In this role, the AOC WS Senior SME / Systems Engineer is responsible for the engineering, sustainment, and integration of the AOC Weapon System baseline - including its legacy on-premise infrastructure - across CONUS and OCONUS locations. This role collaborates with System, Software, and Hardware Design teams, Integrated Product Teams, Chief Engineers, and Program Leadership while leveraging existing and third-party capabilities integrated within the AOC WS. The ideal candidate brings deep AOC WS systems engineering experience, a strong infrastructure sustainment background, and a demonstrated ability to manage complex technical efforts across globally dispersed teams.

Job Description:

  • Coordinate technical actions within the AOC WS engineering and integration teams
  • Interfacing with the key stakeholders to optimize products and solutions in support of achieving maximum Operational Readiness and compliance to contractual requirements as well as establishing open communications and trust
  • Grow and maintain communication with AOC WS functional area Government leads
  • Respond to Government needs in a timely manner, addressing complex technical requirements and collaborating with a globally diverse team to achieve mission objectives
  • Perform hardware and software system deployment, implementation, tuning, design, testing, and systems administration across the AOC WS on-premise baseline - including server, compute, storage, and network infrastructure - across geographically dispersed CONUS and OCONUS locations
  • Provide engineering analysis of the interoperability, capabilities, and functions of candidate changes to the AOC WS; conduct technical evaluations on requirements and requirement changes against product implementations; integrate and test applicable components and applications
  • Provide modification and sustaining engineering and root cause analysis of identified problems, including problem report management and tracking through resolution; track and manage problems identified during integration and test, recommend possible solutions, and work with vendors/providers of components/applications to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Support Engineering Change Request (ECR) processes through creation, tracking, and management via CPMR/CNIMT configuration management tools; support Change Review Boards (CRBs) and Configuration Control Boards (CCBs)
  • Support systems security engineering activities including maintaining security posture of classified AOC WS test and integration suites; Information System Security Engineering (ISSE) and Information System Security Architecture; maintaining security configuration using DISA SCAP, HBSS, ACAS; applying USCYBERCOM TASKORDS/OPORDS/MTOs; and pre/post cyber testing using ACAS credentialed scans
  • Support preparation for Commander's Cyber Readiness Inspections (CCRI) at various AOC sites; manage POA&M entries for DISA CAT I, II, and III findings
  • Support AOC WS Fielding and Installation Services including coordination of baseline releases across enterprise CONUS and OCONUS sites; support Permanent On-Site Support Engineer (POSSE) functions as required
  • Support AOC WS Program Help Desk activities including Tier 2/3 technical support; respond to AOC WS Tier 1 Help Desk escalations, fielding activities, and enterprise support requests

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field and 10+ years of experience to include:
    • 5+ years of experience working in an Operations Center or related C2 environment
    • 7+ years of experience working in a DoW weapons system engineering, sustainment, or integration role; direct AOC WS experience strongly preferred
    • 8+ years of experience with Training, Engineering, Program or Project Management in a military or civilian environment.
    • 5+ years of experience with DoW systems integration, infrastructure sustainment, security engineering, or related technical discipline in a classified environment
  • Active Top Secret security clearance required; TS/SCI eligibility preferred
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Skills/Experience:

  • Experience using Integrated Master Plan (IMP) / Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) or Risk and Opportunity Management to identify issues and develop implement courses of action
  • Experience with the AOC WS Technology Roadmap and third-party integration engineering for GOTS/COTS components; track updates/changes to third-party products and assess impact to AOC WS baselines
  • Broad-based technical background focused on computer and information systems, and a strong grasp of engineering fundamentals with comparable progression of technical responsibilities
  • Familiarity with the development of Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) and training material created in the EAGLE Publishing System (EPS)
  • Familiarity with Agile Release Events (AREs), Out-of-Cycle (OOC) releases, Critical Security Updates (CSUs), and Fast Track (FT) release processes within the AOC WS baseline
  • Experience with system functional theory, operations, preventative and corrective maintenance, and technical documentation in support of a DoW weapons system
  • Familiarity with standards-based, XML tagging processes, designs and applications for data product developments and engineering
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully managing technical efforts and teams to meet weapons system requirements
  • Experience managing diverse tasks, requirements and commitments and interface successfully with numerous disciplines
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Comprehensive planning skills with the ability to analyze technical and financial data and reports
  • Experience supporting DoW competitive proposal development, technical solution writing, or capture activities for large-scale weapons system acquisitions is highly desired

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Graduate-level degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • Direct experience working in or supporting the Air Force Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC) or AOC WS program; working knowledge of CAOC processes and procedures in support of execution of the Air Tasking Order (ATO) and Airspace Control Order (ACO)
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs, ACAS/Nessus scanning, POA&M management, and ATO support processes within DoW weapons systems
  • Experience supporting ECR/CCB processes in an AOC or equivalent DoW C2 weapons system environment
  • Experience supporting competitive proposal development, technical solution narratives, oral presentations, or business development activities for large-scale DoW programs (Highly Desired)

The likely salary range for this position is $147,292 - $199,278. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
