This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned family law professional who enjoys taking ownership, mentoring others, improving processes, and partnering closely with attorneys to deliver exceptional client service.

Our preference is for this position to be fully in-office Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in our Washington, DC office. For the right candidate, we are open to a hybrid schedule consisting of one day in the office and the remainder remote.

Position Overview
The Managing Family Law Paralegal will serve as both a senior litigation paralegal and a leader within the Family Law team. This role requires extensive hands-on experience handling family law matters from inception through trial, along with experience supervising, mentoring, or leading paralegals and legal support staff.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and support family law paralegals and legal support staff.
  • Partner with attorneys to oversee case workflow, staffing, and deadlines.
  • Handle complex family law matters involving divorce, custody, child support, spousal support, equitable distribution, domestic violence, and post-judgment proceedings.
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, financial statements, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and trial materials.
  • Organize and analyze financial records, assets, liabilities, income documentation, and other evidence.
  • Coordinate discovery, document production, and case management.
  • Prepare attorneys and clients for hearings, mediations, depositions, settlement conferences, and trial.
  • Maintain professional and compassionate communication with clients throughout their cases.
  • Manage court filings and ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines.
  • Assist in developing department workflows and best practices.
  • Help onboard, train, and develop new paralegals and legal assistants.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency and support the continued growth of the Family Law department.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of three (3) years of family law paralegal experience required.
  • Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or leading paralegals or legal support staff strongly preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of family law litigation and court procedures.
  • Strong drafting, organizational, and case management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced litigation environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and client service skills.
  • High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and initiative.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software.

Compensation & Schedule
  • $38.00–$45.00 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Preferred schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • Preferred work arrangement: In-office in Washington, DC.
  • A hybrid schedule (one day in the office with the remainder remote) may be considered for an exceptional candidate.
