Vice President, Digital Trading and Investing Product Management
Menlo Park, California/ Purchase, New York
Summary
We are seeking a digital product management professional with financial services experience to join the Digital Trading and Investing team. This role will help lead the strategy, roadmap, prioritization, and execution of digital investing product capabilities across areas such as mutual funds, ETFs, insurance-related solutions, and charitable giving experiences, as applicable.
The successful candidate should have experience developing digital financial products and working cross-functionally with partners including Technology, Design, Marketing, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Risk, and senior business stakeholders. The role requires strong written and verbal communication skills, data-driven decision-making, product development experience, project execution discipline, and sound judgment in balancing client needs, business objectives, technology complexity, and regulatory/control considerations.
The candidate should understand the needs of self-directed investors and be able to design customer-focused digital experiences, tools, and educational resources informed by customer feedback, behavioral analytics, competitive trends, and business results. Responsibilities include identifying opportunities, building business cases, defining requirements and user stories, prioritizing the product backlog, supporting agile delivery, managing launch readiness, and measuring post-launch outcomes.
This individual should be comfortable operating in a team-based, results-oriented environment, influencing cross-functional partners, managing ambiguity, and driving product outcomes that improve client experience, digital adoption, operational efficiency, and the Firm’s position in the digital trading and investing space.
Responsibilities for this role include:
Define product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, reporting needs, and success metrics for new and enhanced digital trading and investing products; partner with agile delivery teams to drive implementation from discovery through launch.
Lead end-to-end product development in an agile environment, including identifying customer problems, shaping product concepts, building business cases, prioritizing the roadmap/backlog, supporting release readiness, and measuring post-launch outcomes.
Partner closely with Technology, Design, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Marketing, and other key stakeholders to design, deliver, and scale digital product solutions in a controlled, timely, and client-focused manner.
Conduct research and analysis of customer needs, behavioral data, market opportunity, competitive trends, and business performance to identify product enhancement opportunities and inform strategic prioritization.
Develop business cases for new product capabilities, including assessment of customer value, business impact, operational considerations, technology effort, risk/control implications, and measurable success criteria.
Collaborate with Marketing, Design, and Technology to deliver best-in-class user experiences, client education, and go-to-market plans that support customer engagement, adoption, retention, and informed decision-making.
Serve as a subject matter expert for digital trading and investing products, providing product guidance to internal partners and helping ensure alignment across business, technology, client experience, and control objectives.
Work with Business Intelligence and analytics partners to gather customer, industry, product, and business data to support roadmap decisions, performance tracking, and ongoing product optimization.
Monitor the competitive environment, digital investing trends, regulatory considerations, and wealth management industry developments to identify opportunities and potential risks.
Manage vendor relationships where applicable, including product strategy alignment, roadmap planning, issue resolution, performance monitoring, marketing coordination, and development of new or enhanced capabilities.
Influence cross-functional partners and senior stakeholders by clearly communicating product strategy, tradeoffs, priorities, risks, and expected business/client outcomes.
Requirements
5+ years of experience within financial services, either in product management, project management or similar role.
Proven ability to think strategically and creatively to design solutions that meet clients’ needs through both online and off-line channels.
Ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders across functions within an organization.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concept to cross functional partners and senior audience.
Customer empathy is a must.
Experience with digital customer experiences is a plus. Knowledge of financial products such as life insurance, mutual funds, exchange traded funds, stocks and bonds is a plus.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage several projects simultaneously. Experience with efforts such as product strategy design, product launches, and regulatory change implementation is preferred.
Experience working with cross functional teams, with partners such as User Experience Design, Technology, Marketing, Operations.
Understanding of the Agile development framework.
Education, Certifications and Training
BA/BS in business, finance, management, marketing or related field preferred.
Experience with Agile methodology and tools used in agile project management (e.g., JIRA, Confluence) is a plus.
Series 7 and industry designations, such as CRPC, CISP, CFP are a plus.
