Job Description:
Objective of the Position:
Packaging Operators are responsible for packaging product, warehousing, food safety, quality control, and sanitation.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Operate packaging equipment including packaging machines, scales, sealers, metal detector, palletizer, and code dater (including setup, changeovers, and standard operations)
- Start and stop equipment
- Replenish packaging supplies (stretch wrap, banding, sheeting, boxes, etc.)
- Print labels and track production
- Empty finished product bins
- Re-palletize product
- Move pallets using forklift or pallet jack (as trained)
- Load pallets into palletizer
- Perform basic operational maintenance on equipment
- Follow work instructions and SOPs
- Perform various duties in multiple departments as directed
Food Quality:
- Perform net weight checks
- Verify packaging seal integrity
- Monitor packaging quality
- Inspect finished product
- Take QC samples
- Report quality issues
Food Safety:
- Follow company cGMP program
- Perform sanitation procedures
- Conduct HACCP-related checks (water activity, moisture)
- Report food safety issues
Occupational Safety:
- Follow company safety protocols and procedures
- Report safety risks
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently. Position requires lifting, bending, crawling, kneeling, standing for long periods, reaching, walking, and climbing ladders.
