Physical Therapist Assistant

Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to support the Physical Therapist in delivering quality therapeutic services to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, improve treatment efficiency, increase service capacity, and enhance functional outcomes for the individuals we serve.

Qualifications:

• Successfully completes the required pre-employment Background and Drug Screenings
• • Must possess a valid Driver's License with all necessary endorsements and have a minimum of 3 years of driving experience. 
• • Active state Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) License.
• • Associates of Science (A.S.) degree in Physical Therapist Assistant required.                                                

Essential Functions:

• Direct Care
• •Implement physical therapy treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
• •Train Direct Support Professionals on proper transfer techniques, equipment uses and positioning needs
• •Complete therapeutic exercises and activities according to the plan of the Physical Therapist
• •Complete Gait training, balance training, transfer training, and mobility interventions
• •Implement stretching, strengthening, endurance, and range-of-motion programs.
• •Monitor patient response to treatment and report findings to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Support Individuals with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities
• •Promote functional independence in mobility and daily activities.
• •Assist with positioning and postural management programs.
• •Support wheelchair mobility and seating recommendations.
• •Reinforce adaptive equipment training.
• •Assist in fall prevention and injury prevention strategies.
• Documentation
• •Document treatment sessions in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements and according to Sunrise 
• Community Inc.’s policies and procedures
• •Maintain accurate treatment records and progress notes.
• •Report changes in participant status to the supervising therapist.
• Collaboration
• •Communicate with Manager of Therapy Services and request Interdisciplinary Team Meetings as needed.
• •Train Therapy Technicians as directed by Manager of Therapy Services and/or Director of Therapy Services
• •Educate Direct Support Professionals and caregivers on therapeutic recommendations
• •Participate in team meetings as needed.
• •Assist with implementation of individualized support plans
• Quality Improvement
• •Assist with outcome tracking and quality assurance initiatives.
• •Support regulatory compliance and best practice standards.
• •Promote person-centered therapeutic programming.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Hourly: $32.00

Compensation and benefits estimated range: the pay range represents the base hourly rate or salary that the company in good faith believes it will pay for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation is determined by factors including geographic location, skills, education and relevant experience.
