Heartline Staffing is recruiting an experienced safety, health, and environmental professional for an onsite opportunity in a wood manufacturing mill environment in Hoboken, Georgia. This position provides technical safety, health, and environmental compliance support to mill personnel while helping strengthen safety systems, regulatory compliance, training, and continuous improvement throughout the operation.
POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for developing safety and health programs and objectives, developing and coordinating safety training programs, monitoring safety and health regulations, monitoring permit requirements, preparing or overseeing required compliance reports, and providing technical support to plant personnel to maintain compliance with federal and state safety, health, and environmental regulations.
The role requires an active presence throughout the mill. In addition to reviewing records and documentation, this position conducts physical observations throughout plant areas to confirm that safety systems and policies are in place, being followed, and functioning properly.
COMPENSATION
• Salary Range: $71,000-$90,000

SAFETY, HEALTH & ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide Technical Safety, Health And Environmental Compliance Support To Mill Personnel
• Prepare Written Safety And Health Programs And Policies
• Identify Mill Safety Training Needs And Develop And Coordinate Safety Training Programs
• Participate In Process Reviews Including Hazard Analyses, Operator Training, ZES / Lockout And New-Hire Orientation
• Participate In Development, Implementation And Support Of Mill Policies
• Identify Opportunities And Support Implementation Of Engineering Controls To Minimize Or Eliminate Safety, Health And Environmental Hazards
• Continually Evaluate Safety Systems And Ensure Changes To Equipment And Processes Are Reflected In Those Systems
• Support Supervisors And Superintendents Through Safety Feedback, Documentation Improvement, Employee Follow-Up And Training
• Confirm Safety Systems And Policies Are In Place, Being Followed And Functioning Properly
• Conduct Plant-Floor EHS Observations And Audits
• Conduct Guarding Audits And At-Risk Observations
• Evaluate Lockout, Safe Work Practices And Employee Hazard Recognition
• Conduct Basic Electrical Safety Inspections
• Audit Existing Safety Inspections Including Ladders, Hand Tools And Extension Cords
• Manage State, Federal And Internal Safety And Environmental Recordkeeping And Reporting
• Continually Improve Internal Safety And Environmental Recordkeeping And Reporting
• Build, Develop And Continually Improve Mill Safety Systems
• Lead By Example And Promote Accountability For Safe Work Practices

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and uneven surfaces, carrying, lifting over 50 pounds and in some cases above shoulder height, bending, climbing, working at heights, and working in tight and/or confined spaces.
The manufacturing environment includes exposure to temperature extremes, wood dust, sharp objects, electricity, chemicals, lubricants, and high noise. Personal protective equipment includes, but is not limited to, a hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, and appropriate arc-flash and arc-blast PPE for electrical work.

• High School Diploma Or GED REQUIRED
• Minimum 5 Years Of Relevant Experience REQUIRED
• Familiarity With Federal OSHA And EPA Recordkeeping And Reporting Requirements REQUIRED
• Familiarity With State Of Georgia Workers' Compensation, EPD And DNR Recordkeeping And Reporting Requirements REQUIRED
• Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills REQUIRED
• Ability To Develop People And Support Plant Leadership REQUIRED
• Ability To Use A Computer And Standard Office Software Including Word And Excel REQUIRED
• Ability To Plan, Solve Problems And Make Sound Decisions REQUIRED

PREFERRED
• Wood Products Manufacturing Experience
• Associate's Or Bachelor's Degree In Industrial Safety And Compliance, Environmental Compliance Or Similar Field
