Description
OVERVIEW
Releady is partnering with one of the largest independently owned licensees of the top-selling furniture brand in North America. Founded in 2003 and headquartered in South Carolina, the company operates 38 retail locations and multiple distribution centers across the Southeast, the Inland Northwest, and northern New England, and is executing an aggressive multi-year national growth plan.
This engagement is for a Senior Business Intelligence Developer who will turn the company's data into decisions leadership can act on. The consultant partners directly with business leaders across retail, supply chain, finance, and customer experience to understand what they are trying to solve, then designs, builds, and delivers the reports and analytical models that answer it. The work spans requirements gathering, report and cube development, user acceptance testing, and end-user enablement, and includes consolidating duplicative reporting so that a single, consistent set of numbers is used company-wide.
The environment is a Microsoft on-premise business intelligence stack, and the consultant is expected to know the underlying data warehouse in depth so they can answer anything from a quick ad hoc question to a large information project.
- Engagement Type: Independent contractor engagement, approximately 40 hours per week (may include weekend work)
- Location: Fully remote. Candidates based in Colombia, with regular availability overlapping United States Eastern business hours
- Compensation: $3,000 - $3,400 USD monthly DOE (Depending On Experience)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting and Report Development
- Design, build, and deliver scheduled and ad hoc reporting that answers the questions business partners bring forward.
- Write and tune the SQL objects the reporting layer depends on, including tables, views, stored procedures, and functions.
- Present data in a format that is straightforward to interpret, with documentation sufficient for successful adoption.
Data Analysis and Business Partnership
- Advise business partners across the organization on how to interpret the data they receive and what it does and does not support.
- Provide end-user education on business data, and contribute analytical findings and best practices to a shared user group forum.
- Develop a detailed working knowledge of the data warehouse so that any request, from a quick query to a large project, can be answered accurately.
Project and Requirements Delivery
- Gather and document requirements in a format that can be reviewed and confirmed with stakeholders before build begins.
- Prioritize incoming requirements and produce conceptual prototypes and mock-ups to validate direction early.
- Deliver critical projects end to end, covering scope definition, build coordination, user acceptance testing, and packaging the final product for adoption.
Data Consistency and Support
- Consolidate redundant reporting so information is defined once and used consistently across the company.
- Investigate and resolve data discrepancies, and provide first-tier support on the analytical services layer.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of professional relevant technical or business intelligence experience, with demonstrated ownership of reporting delivered to business stakeholders.
- Proficiency in SQL Server Reporting Services, including report authoring and web portal security administration.
- Working knowledge of SQL Server Analysis Services and SQL Server Integration Services development.
- Strong command of SQL fundamentals, specifically tables, views, stored procedures, and functions.
- Familiarity with Power BI, and with pivot tables and Power Query in Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptionally strong written and verbal English communication, including the ability to present findings to groups and explain data to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently through ambiguity, prioritize competing requests, and manage multiple projects at once in a fast-moving environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience supporting retail, warehouse, or distribution operations is preferred.
