The Tourism Project Manager I reports to the Tourism Program ManagerThe primary job duties of this position include:  
  • Support outreach to businesses and related training programs;
  • Monitor tourism business growth, promotions, events, and related needs of merchants and event operators;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with youth and amateur sports tournament operators, meeting planners, and industry peers;
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors on tourism development and marketing projects;

**This limited-term agreement position has been approved through 6/30/2027 and may be eligible for renewal based on need and performance in the role.**

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a related field 
  • 2 years of relevant experience in the related field
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Arizona Driver's License.

This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Exempt - ineligible for overtime compensation.

This position has been identified as an eligible position for a Hybrid work agreement, defined as “Approximately half (50%) of the employees’ time is spent on-site, and half (50%) can be spent working remotely”. Currently, the Office of Economic Development has identified Monday and Thursday as eligible remote workdays, bringing the team together in the office on Tuesday and Wednesday. Modified work privileges are approved at the sole discretion of the department director; as such, the department reserves the right to modify or discontinue modified work arrangements at any point. Regardless of work location (Remote, On-Site, or Hybrid), Town of Gilbert employees are required to reside in the state of Arizona.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions for this position include:
Positions in this class typically require: walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
