Refrigeration / Boiler Room Operator – 1st Shift
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Refrigeration / Boiler Room Operator to maintain and monitor refrigeration, boiler, HVAC, and related plant systems in a busy manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will have prior boiler operator experience and strong troubleshooting skills. Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is highly preferred.
This is a union position with competitive pay, an attendance incentive, and opportunities for overtime.
Pay & Schedule
- Pay: $28.92–$33.20 per hour, depending on experience
- Attendance Incentive: Additional $2.25 per hour
- Shift: 1st Shift
- Start Time: 6:00 AM
- Schedule: Monday–Saturday
- Hours: May work up to 10 hours per day
- Weekend work: May be required
- Union position
Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain boiler, refrigeration, HVAC, and related plant systems
- Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration equipment involving ammonia and other refrigerants
- Perform daily inspections and operational checks of refrigeration and plant equipment
- Monitor ammonia refrigeration systems, coolers, HVAC systems, and related equipment
- Perform scheduled maintenance on evaporators, condensers, and other refrigeration equipment
- Monitor, clean, and repair plant systems including condensers and filtration systems
- Identify equipment issues and perform repairs to minimize downtime
- Change and clean filters as needed
- Maintain accurate equipment logs, records, checklists, and other required documentation
- Follow OSHA, EPA, GMP, and plant safety requirements
- Follow all Lockout/Tagout and other required safety procedures
- Request parts and supplies as needed
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Complete required paperwork and maintenance documentation
Qualifications
- Prior boiler operator experience required
- Minimum of 2 years of refrigeration maintenance or related experience preferred/required
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems strongly preferred
- Knowledge of plant safety and GMP requirements
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and plans
- Knowledge of planned maintenance practices
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Basic computer and spreadsheet skills
- Ability to complete work and purchase requests
- RETA Level 1 Industrial experience preferred
- Must be able to work scheduled hours and required overtime
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 75 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, climb, and reach
- Ability to work around machinery and moving equipment
- Ability to work in cold, wet, hot, humid, and noisy environments
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing/production facility
