ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include but are not limited to the functions listed below. Mustbe able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Oversee and coordinate volunteer activities for an assigned department including recruiting, selecting interviewing, training and assigning work.
- Recommend and participate in the implementation of goals and objectives; establish schedules and methods for providing volunteer services; outreach and education; implement policies and procedures.
- Monitor and evaluate program performance; recommend and implement modifications to systems and procedures.
- Identify various functions and duties that can be performed by volunteer coordinators; train staff to perform assigned functions.
- May receive and assess requests by various agencies for special volunteer projects; assign volunteers to agencies as appropriate.
- Motivate and evaluate volunteer staff; encourage problem solving techniques.
- May participate in the development and administration of assigned budget.
- Promote and coordinate specific activities within assigned programs; prepare event and facility marketing material including news releases, flyers, schedules of events, pamphlets and brochures.
- Organize, schedule and implement volunteer services, activities and other related programs.
- May assist with the program administrative operations to include contributing to event and program planning, recommending and assisting in the implementation of goals and objectives.
- Maintain records and develop reports concerning new or ongoing programs and program effectiveness; maintain records for volunteer hours worked; prepare statistical reports as required.
- May schedule tours with teachers, send out confirmation information and inform general public of program(s) through the mail.
- May provide assistance and resolution to customers inquiring about services provided.
- Assist the general public with various requests including gift donations, memorial funds and various donor services.
- Develop survey instruments; conduct surveys of program participants to determine participant needs; interpret and record survey results; implement program changes in response to results.
- May serve as liaison; attend and participate in professional group meetings; present information related to volunteer activities; stay abreast of new trends and innovations within assigned area.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in business, public relations, or marketing; and
Five (5) years of experience in public relations; and
To include one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
May work flexible hours, including evening, weekends, and holidays as required.
Environmental:
Office environment, exposure to computer screens; outdoor recreational facilities; exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold and inclement weather conditions.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time.
