Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Systems Engineer to serve as the senior technical authority and trusted advisor to our network operations and engineering teams and customer leadership.

This role requires a blend of strategic vision and hands-on engineering expertise, ensuring successful execution of enterprise operations, modernization efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is able to operate at both the architectural and tactical levels—guiding strategy, validating approaches through direct engineering engagement, directing engineering changes and driving technical excellence across the program.

 

Responsibilities:

• Architect and design scalable, secure voice, video, wireless, and data networks and associated network management systems
• Lead creation of High-Level and Low-Level Designs (HLD/LLD)
• Deploy and integrate Cisco enterprise and data center technologies
• Configure and support advanced routing and switching technologies including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VXLAN, and EVPN
• Act as the primary technical advisor to customer leadership
• Develop and maintain the enterprise technical strategy and modernization roadmap
• Lead architectural reviews, technical decision-making boards, and risk assessments
• Evaluate and recommend technologies to enhance reliability, security, scalability, and operational efficiency or meet customer new requirements
• Drive modernization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Validate technical approaches through hands-on analysis, engineering reviews, and proof‑of‑concept work
• Partner with operations teams to enhance service delivery and technical execution
• Lead root cause analysis for complex, enterprise-level issues
• Mentor engineering and operations staff and elevate technical standards across the program
• Align technology investments with mission priorities and stakeholder objectives

 

Required Qualifications: 

 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. Experience may be substituted for education.
• Minimum 10 years of enterprise IT engineering and architecture experience.
• Design and architect scalable, secure voice, video, wireless, and data communication networks
• Lead development of high-level and low-level network designs (HLD/LLD)
• Deploy and integrate Cisco-based enterprise and data center solutions
• Configure and support advanced technologies including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VXLAN, and EVPN
• Strong knowledge of network monitoring and management systems such as Cisco Catalyst Center, SolarWinds, and similar.
• Strong understanding of:

  • Security and compliance
• Understanding of network modeling, digital twin, and Model-based System Engineering (MBSE)
• Experience evaluating technical risks and developing strategic solutions.

The likely salary range for this position is $170,000 - $230,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
