About this opportunity

Join Ericsson to build a strategic capability at the intersection of artificial intelligence, patent analytics, and global technology licensing. Within Business Area Intellectual Property Rights & Licensing (BIPL), the Strategy & Business Development team is establishing AI-driven analytics to improve decisions across licensing, litigation, portfolio strategy, and new business opportunities.

As Director, AI-Driven Patent Analytics, you will define the roadmap, build and lead a specialist team, coordinate BIPL and Ericsson’s wider AI community, and turn complex analytical methods into trusted decision support. You will prioritize high-value use cases, shape the operating model and tool strategy, and lead adoption across global teams and external partners. The position is based in Stockholm, Sweden, or Jorvas, Finland.

What you will do

• Set the direction: define Ericsson’s strategy, roadmap, priorities, operating model, governance, and success measures for AI-enabled patent analytics.
• Build the capability: create and lead a specialist team, establish scalable ways of working, and coordinate expertise across BIPL and Ericsson’s wider AI community.
• Deliver and scale decision support: prioritize high-value use cases and turn them into trusted, repeatable analyses for licensing, litigation, portfolio strategy, business development, and public policy.
• Shape responsible technology adoption: guide build, buy, or partner decisions and ensure solutions are secure, explainable, reliable, and aligned with Ericsson requirements.
• Influence and develop the ecosystem: advise senior stakeholders and build productive relationships across internal teams, analytics vendors, research organizations, academics, and industry experts.

The skills you bring

We are looking for a senior leader who combines strong analytical judgment with the ability to build a new capability and influence across a complex global organization. You may bring deeper experience in either patent analytics or advanced AI; you should be able to lead effectively across both disciplines.

• Proven leadership of analytics, data science, AI, advanced research, or comparable transformation initiatives in complex cross-functional environments.
• Ability to turn ambiguous business questions into prioritized roadmaps, practical analytical solutions, and measurable outcomes.
• Knowledge of patent analytics, licensing, portfolio strategy, or another evidence-intensive intellectual property domain.
• Strong judgment in evaluating AI methods, external tools, data quality, and results, combined with executive-level communication and the ability to lead specialists and influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience with standard-essential patent analysis—including landscaping, essentiality, or infringement—and knowledge of telecommunications, standards-based technologies, and global licensing is preferred.
• Experience governing AI or analytics platforms, vendors, or research partnerships; an advanced degree in a relevant technical, analytical, economic, or intellectual property field is an advantage.
• Strong people leadership, with the ability to build, coach, and empower high-performing teams.
