Lab Technician 2
Department: Construction Management

Compensation: $30.00 - $40.00 / hour

As a Lab Tech 2, you will perform laboratory tests on soils, aggregates and HMA, prepare reports, and collect samples from jobsites and plants for a wide variety of transportation projects.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
- Work within a team of construction managers, office managers, inspectors, and contractors to successfully complete the construction of projects
- Perform field sampling and testing, and perform laboratory testing per UDOT, AASHTO and ASTM and other agency procedures and processes
- Complete test reports and documentation per UDOT and other agency requirements for all testing performed
- Work alongside UDOT construction crew or other agency construction management personnel in an augmentation role
- Assist younger technicians to complete tasks
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
- Certification under American Concrete Institute (ACI) as Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I required or UDOT equivalent
- Certification under WAQTC guidelines for Sampling and Density (SRDTT)
- Other Certifications through UDOT are preferred
- Solid organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with clients and multi-discipline team members.
- Willingness to work on projects locally and travel between labs daily
- Willingness to work either day or night shift depending on construction schedules
- Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
- Must be comfortable and efficient with enter test results into required databases
- 4-6 years of experience
