Company Driver

Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Driver – Shipping & Receiving is responsible for the safe transport, receipt, inspection, packaging, and 

dispatch of materials, parts, and finished goods, while flexing between the Shipping and Receiving functions as 

workload demands. This role requires strict adherence to ITAR/EAR handling procedures, chain-of-custody 

documentation, and company quality standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Driving / Transport

• Operate company vehicles (box trucks, vans, forklifts, pallet jacks) to transport materials between 
• facilities, vendors, freight carriers, and customer sites
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections; report maintenance issues promptly
• Maintain valid driving record and comply with all DOT/company driving policies
• Load and secure cargo properly to prevent damage or shifting in transit

Receiving

• Unload, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against packing slips and purchase orders
• Identify and flag discrepancies, damage, or non-conforming material
• Log receipt of controlled/export-restricted items per ITAR handling procedures
• Route materials to appropriate inspection, quarantine, or stocking locations
• Update inventory/ERP system with receipt transactions

Shipping

• Pick, pack, and prepare outgoing shipments per customer and contractual requirements
• Ensure proper packaging/labeling to protect product integrity and comply with export marking 
• Cross-Functional / General
• Flex daily between shipping and receiving duties based on operational priorities
• Maintain accurate, auditable records to support ITAR compliance and traceability 
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse/dock areas (5S standards)
• Support physical inventory counts and cycle counts

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid, unrestricted driver's license with clean driving record
• Ability to operate a forklift (certification provided if not current)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly; occasionally up to 75 lbs with assistance
• Basic computer proficiency (ERP/WMS data entry, email)
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
• Ability to work flexible schedule and flex between departments as needed
• Preferred
• Prior shipping/receiving or warehouse experience
• Experience with export documentation (bills of lading, commercial invoices, license usage)
• Current forklift certification

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where all areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and other mandatory safety equipment.
• For the most part, ambient temperatures with typical plant lighting and manufacturing equipment are present throughout the facility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Sit or stand as needed.
• Walking primarily on a level surface for throughout the day.
• Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist, or lifting as required to reach documents or store materials throughout the workday.
• Proper lifting techniques required.
• Ability and comfortability to work in small confine spaces while following proper safety protocol. 
• Ability to accomplish the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
