About the role:

Reporting to the Manager, Integrated Practice, the Professional Practice Lead – Charge Nurse Lead will provide clinical and project leadership to support the completion of Patient Care Needs Assessments across inpatient adult clinical areas at Southlake Health.

The Professional Practice Lead – Charge Nurse Lead will bring strong frontline nursing leadership experience and a comprehensive understanding of adult inpatient nursing workflows, patient acuity, nursing workload, staffing, and skill mix. The role will work closely with nursing leaders, charge nurses, frontline nurses, Professional Practice, and other key stakeholders to support project implementation.
The successful candidate will be a highly collaborative and credible nursing leader who can engage clinical teams, and facilitate meaningful discussions about workload and patient care needs.
The Charge Nurse Lead will function with a high degree of attention to detail, quality of workmanship, accuracy, and the ability to prioritize work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with competing priorities. What you'll be doing:

  • Support the assessment and completion of patient care needs assessment across identified inpatient adult clinical areas.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with nursing leaders, charge nurses, frontline nurses, Professional Practice, and other interprofessional stakeholders to support successful project implementation.
  • Leverage frontline clinical expertise to understand and assess current nursing workflows, patient care needs, and workload.
  • Support consistent and reliable data collection and identify opportunities to improve the quality, completeness, and reliability of data.
  • Analyze data and other relevant operational and clinical information to identify trends, patterns, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Translate data and findings into meaningful information that can support nursing leaders in understanding workload and patient care needs.
  • Develop and deliver educational resources, presentations, and communication materials to support staff and leader engagement.
  • Collect, organize, and present project metrics, trends, and outcomes to relevant committees, leadership groups, and stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring:

  • Registered Nurse experience required.
  • Charge Nurse experience required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Master’s Degree Preferred.
  • Minimum three years acute care clinical experience.
  • Minimum one year experience as a Charge Nurse in acute care clinical area.
  • Minimum one year using Meditech EMR for documentation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of interprofessional collaboration and education.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal communication, team building, facilitation, and coaching skills that encourages positive interactions among all members of the health care team.
  • Ability to work independently, be self-directed and participate in/lead interprofessional teams.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions based on knowledge of current situations and sound judgement.
  • Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office 365, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage data to produce statistics, metrics, scorecards and reports required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong multi-tasking ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Proven attendance record.
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with Southlake policies and procedures.

This is a temporary 6 month contract position.
