What you'll do...
Role summary:The Director, Business Strategy - Building & Infrastructure role leads asset strategy for Stores, Clubs and DCs, with primary responsibility for Building Structure, Plumbing, and Pavement. The role develops and executes long-range asset strategies and capital program that optimize lifecycle performance, prioritize capital investment, mitigate operational risk, and improve the condition and reliability of the physical portfolio. This role leads a team of subject matter experts responsible for translating asset condition, operational performance, financial data, and field insights into actionable multi-year capital and maintenance strategies.
About the team:
Our team comprises centralized asset strategy leaders and subject matter experts dedicated to optimizing the long-term performance of Walmart’s building and infrastructure assets. We provide enterprise ownership and technical expertise across building and structural systems, plumbing infrastructure, and pavement-related civil assets. By integrating asset condition assessments, engineering knowledge, maintenance history, financial analysis, and operational needs, the team develops disciplined lifecycle strategies. We establish standards, identify risks, prioritize investments, and collaborate with execution teams to ensure projects meet business objectives. Our approach emphasizes proactive planning to maximize asset value and forecast future capital requirements effectively.
What you'll do:
- Lead enterprise building and infrastructure asset strategy across structure, plumbing, pavement
- Own capital portfolio strategy and prioritization
- Drive disciplined capital execution
- Lead and develop a team of subject matter experts, establishing clear technical ownership, standards, governance, and accountability
- Establish asset lifecycle standards and decision frameworks
- Provide strong financial leadership including annual and long-range capital planning.
- Improve portfolio visibility through data and analytics, developing condition indices, performance measures, etc.
- Partner with engineering and construction teams
- Establish governance for capital programs
- Evaluate completed investments and program performance
- Influence cross-functional enterprise decisions by serving as the senior subject matter leader
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation
What you'll bring:
- Extensive experience in facilities management, engineering, construction, asset management, or capital program leadership
- Strong technical understanding of one or more building and infrastructure disciplines
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing large-scale capital programs
- Exceptional financial and business acumen
- Proven ability to develop asset lifecycle strategies that balance preventive maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and replacement
- Strong leadership experience building and developing teams of technical professionals and subject matter experts
- Strong analytical capabilities and experience to make complex investment decisions.
- Experience establishing enterprise standards, governance processes, specifications
- Strong project and program management capabilities
- Excellent communication and executive presence with strong stakeholder relationship management skills
- A continuous improvement mindset

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
