Vocational DSP Lead

One Full-Time Position. 40 hours per week.

Typically, Monday-Friday 8-4, however some evenings and weekends may be required.

Hiring Range: $17.33 - $18.89 / hr., depending upon education and experience.

This position will remain open until filled.

To provide safe, nurturing, and supportive environments for children, families, and adults so that they may  have the opportunities to develop their strengths, maximize their potentials, and fully participate in society.  


Minimum Requirements

Required:

1. High School graduation or equivalent. 

2.  At least one year working for Ariel, or in the I/DD field. 

Preferred:

1. Minimum of two years’ experience working with the Intellectual and the Developmentally Disabled population.

2.  Supervisory experience.

3.  20 hours of certified behavioral experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

1. This position is involved in supporting the strategic direction of the department and providing leadership and instruction. 

2.  Effectively and positively build trust and represent the Supervisor and the Program to the employees, individuals, and community. 

3.  Communicate effectively concerns that impact individuals and program implementation. 

4.  Assist the supervisor with creating the daily schedule and adjustments as necessary while ensuring fair and equitable assignments and rotations. 

5.  Create and prepare the activities and calendar.

6.  Mentor and train new staff. 

7.  Positively represent Ariel in the community and during Interdisciplinary Team meetings, service plan meetings and other meetings when requested by supervisor. 

8. Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, guardians and all other service providers involved with individuals in service.

9.  Ensure required documentation is completed daily. 

10.  Provide a warm, encouraging, supportive and safe environment for individuals and staff and act as positive role model.

11.  Follow all safety procedures and company policies while inspiring others to do the same. 

12.  Ensuring transportation is coordinated and meets program needs. 

13.  Assist and provide feedback for performance appraisals. 

14.  Oversee individual programs per treatment plan to improve skills. 

15.  Ensures quality coordinated care that meets the regulatory standards.

Requirements

  

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

1. Skilled in providing person centered services and supports.

2.  Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism in matters related to Ariel. 

3.  Ability to anticipate, conceptualize and communicate an individual’s unique needs with the interdisciplinary team.

4.  Elevated knowledge of Therap functions.

5. . Knowledge of community resources and how to access them. 

6.  Knowledge of rules and regulations related to daily operations. 

7.  Knowledge of basic computer technology. 

8.  Knowledge of the type of work that Ariel and other service agencies participate in. 

9.  Skilled in organizing workflow and prioritizing tasks, and directing others as needed. 

10.  Skilled at working independently, as well as in a team. 

11.  The ability to communicate effectively verbally, written and electronically in both individual and group settings.

12.  Ability to be flexible, and able to change direction rapidly, and with a positive attitude.

13.  Ability to provide reliable, insured transportation for self and others through the community served.

14.  Ability to be a reliable team player and support the work of other team members. 15. Ability to demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance as scheduled and requested.


Certifications/Licenses 

Required

1. Valid Colorado Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

2.  CPR, First Aid – before contact with individuals. 

3.  CPI within 60 days of hire; individual contact is limited until this training is completed.

4.  QMAP – within 60 days of hire, may not provide medication to individuals without this certification.

5.  Informed Supervision training 

6.  BSIT

7.  Person-centered training 

8.  Individual specific training

9.  Van Drivers Training – before driving an Ariel owned vehicle.

Physical Demands 

1. This position requires that the incumbent be capable of bending, sitting, stretching, and/or reaching regularly for periods up to two hours without a break.

2. This position requires that the incumbent have adequate hand and finger dexterity to properly perform the functions of the position.

3.  This position requires lifting regularly up to 25 pounds and pulling or pushing persons in wheelchairs. Must be able and willing to transfer persons weighing more than 50 pounds to and from wheelchairs with assistance from another staff member. 

4.  At times, physical interventions may be required.

5.  This position requires the ability to hear, see, smell, and distinguish temperature, at a level which is adequate to ensure individual and staff health and safety. Adaptive devices are acceptable.

6.  This position will require daily driving of up to one hour per day and occasionally as needed.


Work Environment 

1. This position can and will be exposed to all environments from quiet to noisy, climate controlled to extreme outdoor heat and cold.

2. May work in the community or in family home environments.

3. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease is possible, but limited.

4. Exposure to hazardous chemicals is possible, but limited.
