Overview

Cadrex is seeking CNC Operators at Levels I, II, and III to support manufacturing operations through the setup, operation, monitoring, and optimization of manual and CNC machinery. CNC Operators are responsible for producing high-quality components that meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and production goals. The complexity of machine operation, setup, troubleshooting, and programming responsibilities increases with each level based on demonstrated skill, experience, and technical proficiency.


Key Responsibilities (All Levels)

  • Operate CNC and manual machines to produce components and assemblies according to specifications
  • Position and secure materials and parts using appropriate fixtures, clamps, and fastening devices
  • Operate hand-held, electrical, and pneumatic tools as required
  • Use precision measuring instruments to verify product quality and dimensional accuracy
  • Identify material types and ensure proper machine settings are utilized
  • Recognize worn tooling and perform tooling changes as required
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections to verify product conformance
  • Report defective materials, process issues, machine malfunctions, or nonconforming products to supervision
  • Complete production documentation, inspection records, and related paperwork accurately and timely
  • Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition
  • Follow all company safety procedures and manufacturing standards
  • Operate material handling and lift equipment as required

Key Responsibilities (Level I)

  • Operate manual equipment such as saws, mills, and lathes under supervision
  • Assist with basic CNC machine operation and loading/unloading of parts
  • Learn machine functions, tooling applications, and production processes
  • Perform basic inspections using measuring tools and gauges
  • Make adjustments to machine operations as directed by supervisors or experienced operators
  • Support production requirements while developing machining knowledge and skills

Key Responsibilities (Level II)

  • Independently operate CNC equipment to manufacture production parts and assemblies
  • Perform machine setups, tool changes, offsets, and program adjustments with minimal supervision
  • Troubleshoot routine machine and process issues to maintain production flow
  • Troubleshoot routine machine and process issues to maintain production flow
  • Monitor machine performance and make real-time adjustments to improve efficiency and quality
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and assist in training less experienced  operators when needed

Key Responsibilities (Level III)

  • Set up and prepare advanced CNC equipment, including tooling selection, fixture setup, and production optimization
  • Develop, modify, and troubleshoot CNC programs using G-code and CAM software
  • Perform advanced machine setups and complex machining operations
  • Monitor machine performance and implement adjustments to maximize efficiency, quality, and throughput
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and programming issues to minimize downtime
  • Identify and implement process improvements that reduce cycle times and enhance productivity
  • Maintain detailed machine setup, production, and quality records
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to Level I and Level II operators
  • Assist with training, process development, and operational best practices across the department

Requirements

  

Preferred Qualifications (Level I)

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of machining principles and manufacturing processes
  • Mechanical aptitude and interest in CNC machining
  • Ability to use basic measuring tools and inspection equipment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing production requirements
  • Commitment to workplace safety

Preferred Qualifications (Level II)

  • 2+ years of CNC machining or CNC operator experience
  • Experience with machine setup, tool changes, offsets, and program adjustments
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and CNC machine operation
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions
  • Experience using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team objectives
  • Commitment to quality, productivity, and safety

Preferred Qualifications (Level III)

  • 4+ years of CNC machining or CNC operator experience
  • Advanced knowledge of CNC machine operation, setup, and programming
  • Proficiency with G-code programming and CAM software
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting machining, tooling, and programming issues
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, and process optimization
  • Demonstrated ability to improve manufacturing efficiency and quality performance
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills
  • Strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical training, machining certification, or equivalent experience preferred

SCHEDULE

  • Full-time; 1st and 2nd Shift Availability  

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high places, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and may require hearing protection in specific locations.
