Description
Blue Cliff College is seeking a Clinical Medical Assisting Instructor to join our academic team. This role is ideal for an experienced Medical Assistant who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and helping students build the skills and confidence needed to begin successful careers in healthcare.
The instructor will provide classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction in clinical and administrative medical assisting, using lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises, and instructional technology to support student learning.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging instruction in accordance with approved curriculum and course objectives.
Demonstrate and teach clinical and administrative medical assisting skills.
Provide hands-on laboratory instruction and evaluate student competency.
Administer assignments, examinations, and practical skills assessments.
Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and student progress records.
Provide academic support and guidance to students.
Maintain a professional, organized, and safe classroom and laboratory environment.
Participate in faculty meetings, training, and professional development activities.
Assist with curriculum and instructional improvements as needed.
Model the professionalism and workplace expectations required in the healthcare field.
Clinical Skills
Candidates should be proficient in areas including:
Infection control, aseptic technique, and OSHA standards
Vital signs and patient histories
Phlebotomy and specimen collection
EKG/ECG procedures
Medication administration and injections, as permitted by applicable law and institutional policy
Sterilization and autoclave procedures
Medical documentation
Assisting with examinations and procedures
Medical emergencies and basic first aid
Clinical equipment and laboratory safety
Qualifications
Current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant required.
Minimum of four years of professional Medical Assistant experience with relevant clinical experience.
Associate or bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
Strong knowledge of clinical and administrative medical assisting, including phlebotomy, EKG, spirometry, vital signs, medical documentation, billing, and medical terminology.
Previous teaching, training, mentoring, or supervisory experience preferred.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to effectively engage and support students in both classroom and hands-on learning environments.
American Heart Association BLS Instructor certification and/or Certified Phlebotomy Technician certification are a plus.
Compensation
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $20.00–$25.00 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Final compensation may vary based on factors including geographic location, education, certifications, relevant skills, and professional experience.
