Description

Legacy Talent Search is currently seeking candidates for a Tool & Die Maker role in Vancouver, WA. Our client is a well-established industry leader known for innovation and a commitment to delivering the highest quality products. With a focus on continuous improvement, they pride themselves on maintaining excellence at every stage of their manufacturing process.

This is a high-level machining and tooling position requiring extensive CNC experience and the ability to work independently on complex and prototype parts. End mill/drill grinding and/or tool and die making experience is highly preferred, as this role will support a specialized area rather than general production machining.

Key Responsibilities:

· Set up and operate CNC machinery while monitoring operations for malfunctions and out-of-tolerance conditions, making necessary machine control, indicator, and tool offset adjustments using controllers such as Haas, Fanuc, and Okuma.

· Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials on mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, shapers, and other machining equipment while maintaining tolerances as tight as .0005".

· Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on parts while continuously reviewing technique cards, prints, and customer-specific work orders for changes.

· Calculate and set machining controls for speeds, feeds, coolant flow, depth of cut, and cutting angles, and retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine controls using proper programming procedures.

· Write, test, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs as assigned, including the application of G-code and M-code for complex machining operations.

· Set up and operate multiple machine types, including 3-axis and 5-axis CNC equipment, with exposure to specialized and diamond tooling.

· Perform specialized precision tooling work, with end mill/drill grinding and tool and die experience strongly preferred.

· Machine prototype components and new specifications with limited instructions or established procedures, using independent judgment to determine appropriate machining methods.

· Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and specifications to produce components within required tolerances.

· Verify finished workpieces for conformance to specifications and complete independent First Article Inspection reports in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements.

· Utilize precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, CMMs, and optical comparators to verify dimensional accuracy and GD&T requirements.

· Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and quality issues and assist less experienced machinists with measurements, setups, and technical questions as needed.

· Diagnose machine problems and complete minor machine repairs when appropriate to maintain effective machine utilization.

· Document scrapped parts, machine issues, non-conformances, and other production concerns using appropriate forms and pass-down reports.

· Communicate effectively with machinists across shifts to ensure continuous machine utilization and accurate transfer of production information.

· Collaborate with production management, engineering, and quality teams to troubleshoot problems, improve processes, and identify opportunities for departmental improvement.

· Perform and document basic daily preventative maintenance, including cleaning machinery and checking oil, coolant, and other required machine conditions.

· Participate in P5S initiatives and maintain clean, organized machinery and work areas.

· Follow all safety programs, PPE requirements, JSAs, and safe operating practices while helping model and reinforce departmental safety procedures.

· Promptly report machine failures, non-conformances, spills, accidents, EHS concerns, and maintenance needs.

· Assume additional machining, tooling, prototype, and engineering projects as assigned by engineering and/or supervision.

Qualifications:

· Extensive experience as a CNC Machinist, Tooling Machinist, Toolmaker, or similar high-level precision machining professional.

· Strong CNC setup and operation experience with controllers such as Haas, Fanuc, Okuma, or similar systems.

· Experience operating and setting up 3-axis and 5-axis CNC equipment.

· End mill/drill grinding and/or tool and die making experience strongly preferred.

· Advanced understanding of CNC programming, including the ability to apply, edit, and troubleshoot G-code and M-code.

· Ability to independently set up machines, adjust tool offsets, select tooling and fixtures, and troubleshoot machining processes.

· Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.

· Proven ability to machine and inspect precision components to tolerances as tight as .0005".

· Experience with micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.

· CMM and/or optical comparator experience preferred.

· Experience performing First Article Inspections and working within ISO 9001 quality standards.

· Ability to work on prototype and complex components with limited instructions or established procedures.

· Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose machining problems and perform minor machine repairs.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality precision work.

· Excellent teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills.

What We Offer:

· Competitive hourly wage. $25-$36 DOE.

· Day shift schedule.

· Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance and paid time off.

· Opportunities for growth and advancement within the company.

· A supportive and inclusive workplace culture.

· The opportunity to work on complex precision machining, tooling, and prototype projects in a highly specialized manufacturing environment.
