Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Consultant Subject Matter Expert to support the DHA Armed Services Blood Program. The consultant will provide expertise in transfusion medicine, blood product compatibility, and blood supply chain practices. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with military, civilian, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze blood typing, crossmatching, and blood product compatibility practices and report findings to program stakeholders.
• Assess blood supply chains in different countries, including blood collection, processing, storage, and distribution capabilities.
• Identify and explain differences between U.S. and international blood product practices that may affect compatibility or supply.
• Provide subject matter expertise to support ASBP business management activities and informed decision-making.
• Prepare clear written reports and communicate technical findings to diverse audiences.
• Build productive relationships with stakeholders and manage expectations throughout assigned work.

Required Qualifications

• Education: A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant scientific field, such as Biology, Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Hematology, or at least three years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
• Experience: At least three years of experience in a Clinical Laboratory Scientist role working with DoD military and/or civilian customers.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on transfusion medicine.
• Expertise in blood typing, crossmatching, and blood product compatibility testing.
• Understanding of potential differences between U.S. and other countries’ transfusion practices.
• Ability to assess blood collection, processing, storage, and distribution capabilities across countries.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and manage expectations with diverse stakeholders.
