About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead SAP Finance Functional Analyst for a 6-month contract, with a preferred location of Melbourne. This senior role will help lead the end-to-end Accounting to Reporting technology landscape across General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, Project Systems and Group Reporting, with a strong focus on SAP S/4HANA and Agile delivery. The role will be responsible for guiding solution design, leading enhancements, ensuring system integrity and partnering with business leaders to optimise finance operations, including interactions with external service providers. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, expert problem solver and trusted advisor who can translate business needs into robust, scalable SAP solutions.
Hybrid, 1-2 days on site in the office.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Serve as the functional lead for SAP Finance across General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, Project Systems and Group Reporting.
- Design, configure and optimise finance processes across these areas.
- Lead solution architecture discussions and ensure alignment with enterprise standards and finance best practices.
- Influence and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 functional analysts and service provider teams across BAU ITIL processes, solutioning and SAP best practices.
- Help with the roadmap for SAP Finance capabilities, identifying opportunities for automation, standardisation and digital transformation.
- Oversee integration across SAP modules and between SAP and non-SAP platforms.
- Mentor cross-functional Finance Agile teams, manage backlogs with the Product Owner, define user stories and help prioritise enhancements based on business value.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with Agile principles.
- Conduct workshops to understand business needs and translate them into functional requirements and system solutions.
- Provide leadership during releases, upgrades, testing cycles and system cutovers.
- Deliver advanced reporting and analytics insights using SAP tools.
Your qualifications and experience
- 7+ years of deep experience in SAP Finance, with considerable experience in SAP S/4HANA and strong configuration skills.
- Hands-on SAP Finance experience across General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, Project Systems and Group Reporting.
- Certification in SAP S/4HANA Finance.
- Proven experience in Agile delivery, Scrum or a similar framework.
- Strong understanding of finance processes.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
