Description

This role provides front-desk customer service, coordinates trips and activities, supports program operations, and serves as a key resource for participants. Responsibilities include assisting with registration, communicating with members, organizing events and excursions, and providing on-site support during trips and special programs. Candidates should enjoy working with people, have strong organizational skills, and be comfortable with a flexible schedule that includes occasional evenings and weekends.
Starting Salary Range: The starting salary is between the minimum and midpoint of the range ($24.06 hourly - $29.47 hourly).
Candidates will start at the minimum of the range unless their skills, experience, education or other factors exceed the qualifications for the position.

- Serves as site coordinator for recreation programs, activities, and events.
- Assists in planning, organizing and coordinating community events and recreational activities for all age groups; prepares planning documents and needs assessments for events.
- Supports Recreation division with administrative functions including, recordkeeping, office organization, financial reporting and preparing documents for certifications.
- Provides internal and external customer service including but not limited to answering phones, communicating with customers, registering participants, collecting money and balancing cash drawers.
- Assists with creation, distribution, and record keeping of marketing, public information, and funding materials.
- Maintains necessary equipment, supplies and cleanliness of facilities for safe daily operations.
- Maintains program registrations, memberships, payments, deposits, and filing of records.
** Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required
Any combination of education, training and experience as listed below which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. A typical way to qualify is with a High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in general recreation programming OR; Associate’s degree in Parks and Recreation or related field of study and one (1) year of experience in general recreation programming OR; Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation or related field of study.
- Licensure or Certification Requirements
- Current and valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract to meet criteria for insurability established by the City of Gahanna.
- Current American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
- Current American Red Cross Instructor or willingness to obtain.
- Canoe or kayak instructor certification or willingness to obtain. Adaptive Paddling certification or endorsement preferred.
