Renishaw is seeking an experienced and motivated Logistics Operations Manager to lead a number of key customer-facing operational functions within our global supply chain and service environment.

 

This is a leadership role responsible for managing a team of approximately 20 employees, including three direct-report managers, ensuring the effective delivery of logistics, customs compliance, customer service, and sales support activities. You will provide clear direction, coaching and development opportunities to enable your teams to achieve their objectives while maintaining high standards of customer service and operational excellence.

 

Working closely with colleagues across Manufacturing, Warehousing, Service and Commercial functions, you will play an important role in driving performance, supporting strategic business objectives and delivering continuous improvement initiatives. A key focus of the role will be supporting the department's growth plans and ensuring operational readiness to meet increasing customer demand.

 

Responsibilities

 

As a Logistics Operations Manager, you will:

• Lead, develop and support a team of approximately 20 employees, including three managers, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Oversee onward logistics operations, ensuring the efficient shipment of Renishaw products from Group Manufacturing and Renishaw UK warehouses to customers worldwide.
• Maintain responsibility for customs compliance activities, ensuring all inbound and outbound shipments meet applicable legislative and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee service operations, ensuring customer expectations are consistently met for products returned to Renishaw for repair, calibration and servicing.
• Manage Group Manufacturing sales support activities, facilitating effective communication between manufacturing teams and customers.
• Develop team capability through coaching, mentoring, succession planning and performance management activities.
• Implement, monitor and report on departmental performance against agreed objectives, processes and service standards.
• Drive the successful delivery of key departmental projects and business initiatives, including supporting the continued scale-up required to achieve Project 200K objectives.
• Work collaboratively with the UK Warehouse Manager to define, monitor and improve customer service levels and operational performance.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, delivering greater efficiency, effectiveness and value across the department.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and provide effective escalation management where required.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and quality standards across all areas of responsibility.

 

Key requirements

 

• Demonstrable experience in an operational leadership role within logistics, supply chain, customer service or a related environment.
• Experience leading and developing managers and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong people management skills, with the ability to coach, motivate and develop others.
• Experience implementing and monitoring operational performance measures and service targets.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience managing change and delivering operational improvement initiatives.
• A customer-focused approach with the ability to balance commercial and operational priorities.

 

 

Desirable requirements

 

 

• Knowledge of international logistics and customs compliance processes.
• Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Understanding of service, repair or aftermarket operations.
• Experience leading business-critical projects and cross-functional improvement activities.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and performance management tools.
