Description
The Non-CDL Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of refrigerated, frozen, and other food products to customers on assigned routes. Drivers operate company delivery vehicles that do not require a CDL, make multiple customer stops, unload orders, and provide professional customer service.
Routes may include travel throughout Pennsylvania and surrounding areas, with drivers returning home at the completion of their daily route.
Requirements
Essential Functions
- Safely operate company non-CDL delivery vehicles.
- Deliver refrigerated, frozen, and other food products to customers.
- Complete multiple customer stops on assigned daily routes.
- Load, unload, and properly handle customer orders.
- Use hand trucks, pallet jacks, lift gates, ramps, and other delivery equipment as required.
- Verify products and quantities against invoices and delivery paperwork.
- Maintain proper product temperatures and follow all food safety procedures.
- Obtain customer signatures and accurately complete required delivery documentation.
- Collect and properly account for customer payments when required.
- Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Communicate delays, delivery issues, product concerns, or vehicle problems to Dispatch.
- Maintain professional and courteous relationships with customers.
- Follow all company safety, transportation, sanitation, and food safety policies.
- Maintain the cleanliness of assigned vehicles and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently enter and exit a delivery vehicle throughout the workday.
- Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and carrying.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 90 pounds.
- Ability to safely move product using hand trucks, pallet jacks, ramps, and lift gates.
- Ability to work in refrigerated, freezer, outdoor, and changing weather conditions.
- Ability to safely navigate stairs, loading docks, ramps, customer facilities, and uneven surfaces.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license.
- Acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to safely operate company delivery vehicles.
- Must meet all company and applicable regulatory driver requirements.
- Previous delivery, food service, warehouse, or customer service experience preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Dependable attendance and ability to report to work at scheduled route times.
- Ability to work independently and complete assigned routes efficiently.
Work Environment
This is a physically active delivery position involving driving, unloading product, and frequent interaction with customers. Drivers may work in varying weather and temperature conditions and around refrigerated and frozen products, loading docks, vehicle traffic, and material-handling equipment.
Drivers complete local and regional routes and are home every night.
