Lecturer (Human-Centred Design for AI & Cloud Innovation) – School of Engineering

[What the role is]

This is a full-time Lecturer position focused on delivering high-quality education in Human-Centred Design for AI & Cloud Innovation. The role involves teaching and mentoring learners in design thinking, human-centred design, innovation methodologies, product development, prototyping and technology-driven solutioning.

[What you will be working on]

The successful candidate will develop and deliver learning units in:

• Design thinking, human-centred design and innovation

• Product design, prototyping, testing, validation and iterative development

• Engineering problem-solving, systems thinking and solution development

• Innovation management, entrepreneurship, and technobusiness

• Sustainable, user-centric and impactful design practices

• Apply cloud, AI, IoT and emerging technologies to engineering design and innovation

• Integrate relevant digital tools/technologies and expose learners to smart, connected and technology-enabled solutions

• Develop industry-relevant curriculum, assessments and experiential learning activities

• Supervise student projects, innovation challenges and industry-based projects

• Mentor learners in design thinking, innovation, entrepreneurship & product development

• Build industry partnerships to support applied learning, innovation and capability development

• Stay current with emerging trends/developments and integrate them into teaching

[What we are looking for]

We are seeking a candidate with:

• Relevant qualifications in Engineering, Design Engineering, Product Design, Innovation, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related fields.

• 3–5 years of relevant industry or practical experience in engineering design, product development, innovation or technology-enabled solutions.

• Experience in design thinking, prototyping, user-centred design, innovation and project-based learning.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms, digital technologies or smart systems; experience in AI, IoT, automation, digital twins or data analytics is preferred.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for teaching and mentoring.

• Experience in industry projects, innovation initiatives and product development will be an advantage.

• Relevant professional certifications in engineering, innovation, design, cloud technologies or project management will be beneficial.
