Who We Want: We want a Junior Lock Desk Analyst that reports to the Director of Capital Markets and supports Licensed Mortgage Professionals and the Director of Capital Markets with rate lock, pricing, loan data, reporting, and pipeline activities while developing a working knowledge of mortgage origination and the Secondary Market. The Jr Lock Desk Analyst is an entry-level, career-track opportunity for someone who enjoys numbers, works hard, and wants to learn the mortgage industry from the ground up. Prior mortgage experience is not required. Mortgage knowledge can be learned; the foundation we are seeking is strong math aptitude, a disciplined work ethic, exceptional attention to detail, coachability, and the ambition to become a trusted Lock Desk professional.


Essential Duties:

  • This position will work from our Corporate office full-time 5 days per week, Monday - Friday
  • Learns and follows Homeowners rate lock, pricing, investor, and service-level procedures
  • Reviews new rate lock requests for completeness and accuracy; identifies missing or inconsistent information and escalates exceptions as needed
  • Processes rate locks, extensions, relocks, renegotiations, and loan changes accurately and within posted time frames, with training and oversight
  • Verifies loan amount, rate, term, pricing, adjustments, fees, lock period, expiration date, and investor information before and after lock activity
  • Enters and maintains accurate lock and investor registration data in the corporate Loan Origination System (LOS), pricing engine, and investor portals
  • Monitors lock queues, confirmations, and delivery expiration dates; assists with extensions and follow-up to help keep loans covered through purchase
  • Responds promptly and professionally to routine product, pricing, and lock-status questions from LMPs and Operations; researches issues and escalates complex scenarios
  • Runs and reviews daily lock, expiration, pipeline, and reconciliation reports; compares data across systems and assists with correcting discrepancies
  • Supports Accounting and Post Closing by verifying fees, rates, adjustments, investor purchase information, and final pricing
  • Communicates and collaborates daily with LMPs, Operations, Accounting, Underwriting, Processing, Post Closing, and Capital Markets
  • Participates in Homeowners internal meetings and required trainings
  • Maintains a professional image and demonstrates an understanding of and follows all Homeowners Policies and Procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Mortgage industry experience is not required; experience in a detail-oriented office, finance, banking, accounting, customer service, data-entry, or operations environment is helpful but not required
  • Strong math and numerical reasoning aptitude required, including comfort with percentages, decimals, and basic financial calculations
  • Ability to compare data, reconcile differences, spot discrepancies, and keep working until the numbers make sense
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, especially when handling time-sensitive information
  • A track record of reliability, follow-through, and sustained effort in work, school, athletics, volunteer service, or other commitments
  • Demonstrated ambition, initiative, and willingness to learn from mistakes and take on increasingly complex work
  • Basic proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the willingness and ability to develop Excel skills such as formulas, lookups, and pivot tables
  • Ability and desire to learn mortgage technology 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills to internal and external customers
  • Ability to develop positive relationships
  • Ability to follow written procedures consistently, protect confidential information, and ask questions when instructions or data are unclear

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This job may require handling objects up to 10 pounds frequently and 20 pounds occasionally. While performing the duties described herein, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel in addition to talking and hearing. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Office environment is normally climate-controlled.
