Description
Construction Manager | Federal Construction
Colorado Springs, CO
Looking for a Construction Manager who knows how to own a project, read the plans, hold subcontractors accountable, and build the right way the first time.
This is a long-term opportunity supporting a major federal renovation project in Colorado Springs.
Why Work With Us
- Long-term career opportunity beyond this project
- High-profile federal construction environment
- 2-year project beginning this fall
- Strong onsite support from both Superintendent and QC
- Collaborative, team-oriented jobsite culture
- Opportunity to take real ownership of project execution and set the pace for the team
The Project
You'll help lead the complete interior transformation of an existing 40,000 SF facility.
The building is currently primarily office space and will undergo a complete interior demolition and build-back into a secure federal facility.
The project includes:
- Interior demolition and complete build-back
- New flooring and finishes
- HVAC systems
- Electrical systems
- Communications infrastructure
- Coordination of multiple subcontracted trades
- Federal plans, specifications, submittals and quality requirements
The project is scheduled to begin in October, but we're looking to get the right Construction Manager onboard now.
What You'll Be Doing
This is a general contractor environment where all trade work is subcontracted, so your job is to manage the project, coordinate subcontractors and make sure what's being installed matches exactly what was designed and approved.
You'll:
- Lead day-to-day construction execution and subcontractor coordination
- Thoroughly review and interpret drawings and specifications
- Review submittals and shop drawings against field installation
- Catch discrepancies before they become expensive rework
- Drive a do-it-right-the-first-time mentality
- Maintain schedule, quality and accountability across subcontractors
- Coordinate closely with the Superintendent and QC team
- Set expectations and maintain momentum across the jobsite
- Build a positive, professional and collaborative project culture
What You Bring
- Strong commercial or federal construction management experience
- Experience managing multiple subcontracted scopes
- Excellent ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong understanding of submittals, shop drawings and field installation
- Experience coordinating MEP and finish trades
- Federal, military, or secure-facility construction experience is highly valuable
- Self-starter who doesn't need someone standing over their shoulder
- Detail-oriented with a strong quality mindset
- Comfortable holding people accountable without creating unnecessary friction
- Positive, motivating and team-oriented leadership style
We're looking for someone who can command a project without bulldozing the people on it. You need to be confident, organized and willing to hold the line on quality while still building strong relationships with your subcontractors and project team.
Because this work is performed in a federal environment, candidates must be able to meet applicable project access and screening requirements, including a favorable background and drug screening.
To Apply
If you're a strong Construction Manager who understands the drawings, catches problems before they hit the field, and knows how to get the best out of subcontractors and project teams, I'd like to talk.
Talk soon,
