Job Description:

Mueller’s manufacturing commitment ensures one of the world’s most precious resources, clean drinking water, reaches millions of people daily.  Come be a part of something that sustains and enriches the lives of every human being.  As an Electro-Mechanical Technician, you will be primarily responsible for supporting manufacturing by maintaining and servicing equipment, and mechanical elements of component production. This includes maintaining operating capabilities, testing, and/or calibrating, automated, servo-mechanical, electromechanical and/or robotic equipment. You will work with various manuals and automated tools for some general maintenance change-out and troubleshooting. You prioritize safe, skilled, and timely support to manufacturing customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Adhering to all safety rules such as Lock Out Tag Out procedures, Arch Flash safety procedures. Wearing all necessary PPE always to help eliminate potential risk.
  • Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily based on electrical/mechanical principles in order to maintaining operating abilities of plant equipment in conjunction with production.
  • Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects to preserve equipment.
  • Following manufacturer's instructions and completing preventive maintenance; service, repair, calibrate, regulate, fine-tune, and/or test machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily for manufacturing. 
  • Install, modify, connect, test, and troubleshoot electrical equipment to power circuit, components, or systems.
  • Observing, receiving, and obtaining information by reading blueprints, manufacturing outlines, schematics, technical drawings, diagrams, manuals, plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters.
  • Inspects, identify, and repair machinery and equipment to working conditions, including production setup, verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces.
  • Adhere to specifications through operations; measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; replacing worn tools and adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Keep up-to-date information and knowledge of equipment and tooling installed, and set-up for manufacturing operation to be able to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
  • Troubleshoot repairs and perform preventative maintenance utilizing hydraulic and other mechanical technology and efficient techniques available to support lean environment, safe operations, and 5s standards in work areas.
  • Thinking creatively in servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that are used in operation.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs in both major and minor repairs while operating under minimal supervision.
  • Maintain appropriate operational documentation, including production and quality logs.
  • Keep work area and department clean and organized.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to all relevant safety guidelines, procedures, and regulations and flagging any equipment or safety issues to the appropriate team lead, supervisor, maintenance, or EHS personnel utilizing “Stop, Call, Wait” procedure.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Strong personal commitment to safety standards in industrial and/or manufacturing environments.
  • Understand measuring/measurement concepts/applications, and familiarity with basic tools used in measuring and inspection such as micrometer and calipers.
  • Experience in an industrial and/or manufacturing type safety focused environment.
  • Read, follow, and understand work orders and instructions, processes, and procedures related to engineering data or reports, technical operating, service, or repair manuals for equipment.
  • Operate precision measuring tools or equipment, hand or power tools, and electrical or electronic test devices, connections or components in both set up and repair work.
  • Communicates and works effectively with supervisors, peers, or subordinates.
  • Possesses ability to operate a range of powered industrial trucks (PIT), hand trucks, dollies, scales, or other material handling equipment.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar field of work, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Associates or Technical degree in a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • Must have high school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience. 
  • CNC, Machining, and/or Paint Department knowledge/experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to use a web-based CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, safety glasses, steel-toed or metatarsal-guarded shoes, and/or ear plugs, while working in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment.
