Description

You are a Buyer who is responsible for the timely and effective procurement of materials, equipment, and services in support of U.S. Mining Operations, with a primary focus on heavy equipment parts and components. You will work closely with Operations, Equipment and Maintenance teams to understand requirements, prioritize critical needs, and expedite parts and materials to support equipment availability and minimize operational downtime.

In this role, you will secure the best overall value while balancing cost, quality, availability, lead time, and operational urgency.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Executes the end-to-end procurement of goods and services in support of U.S. Mining Operations, with a primary focus on heavy equipment parts and components, in accordance with company policies, procedures, and approval requirements
  • Obtains and evaluates supplier quotations and makes purchasing decisions based on cost, quality, availability, lead time, and operational requirements, maintaining ownership of purchase orders through delivery, invoice resolution, and payment
  • Prioritizes and expedites critical parts and materials required to return equipment to service and minimize operational downtime
  • Works closely with Operations, Equipment, Maintenance (OEM), and site teams to understand purchasing requirements, priorities, and required delivery dates
  • Responds to changing operational priorities and coordinates urgent procurement requirements where equipment availability or production may be impacted
  • Works with OEMs, equipment dealers, and suppliers to identify sourcing alternatives and resolve availability, lead time, or delivery challenges
  • Creates and maintains effective working relationships with OEMs, equipment dealers, parts suppliers, and other vendors supporting U.S. Mining Operations
  • Identifies alternative sources of supply to improve availability, competitiveness, and responsiveness
  • Monitors and escalate supplier performance, capacity, pricing, or availability concerns as appropriate

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of procurement or purchasing experience in mining, heavy equipment, industrial, construction, or a related environment
  • Experience sourcing and purchasing heavy equipment parts, components, materials, or related services
  • Experience supporting mining or heavy equipment operations
  • Experience in a fast-paced operational environment supporting urgent or critical equipment requirements
  • Working knowledge of procurement processes and commercial practices
  • Ability to interpret equipment and parts information to support accurate sourcing and purchasing
  • Experience with procurement systems, preferably Coupa or similar
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, with strong Excel skills
  • Strong communication, supplier coordination, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment

Work Conditions:

  • This is a 12–18-month fixed term position
  • Occasional travel to various project sites is required
  • Will be part of a rotating on-call schedule for emergency instances supporting operations
