Equipment & Facility Maintenance Group Leader - 1st shift
Job Summary:
The Equipment & Facility Maintenance Group Leader is responsible for leading the maintenance team in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of production equipment, building systems, and facility infrastructure. This role oversees preventive and corrective maintenance activities, supports continuous improvement initiatives, manages maintenance schedules, and ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. The Group Leader works cross-functionally with operations, engineering, quality, and external service providers to minimize downtime and maintain a high-performing work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and supervise daily activities of equipment and facility maintenance technicians.
· Plan, prioritize, and coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks.
· Ensure production equipment, utilities, and facility systems are maintained for maximum uptime and reliability.
· Monitor maintenance work orders, backlog, and completion status through the maintenance management system.
· Troubleshoot equipment and facility issues and support root cause analysis for recurring failures.
· Coordinate repairs and maintenance for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, lighting, fire protection, and other building systems.
· Partner with operations and engineering teams to support equipment installations, upgrades, and process improvements.
· Ensure spare parts and maintenance supplies are properly managed and available as needed.
· Manage contractor and vendor activities related to maintenance and facility services.
· Enforce compliance with all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, Arc Flash, environmental regulations, and company policies.
· Support budget planning and cost control for maintenance labor, parts, and outside services.
· Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation.
· Train, coach, and develop team members to improve technical capability and overall performance.
· Support emergency response and after-hours maintenance needs when required.
Required Qualifications:
· Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent practical experience in maintenance, industrial technology, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or a related field.
· 3–7 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, warehouse, or commercial facility environment.
· Prior team lead, supervisory, or coordination experience.
· Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
· Experience with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Knowledge of workplace safety standards and maintenance compliance requirements.
· Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and equipment drawings.
· Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
· Experience in lean manufacturing, TPM, or reliability-centered maintenance practices.
· Certification in maintenance, facilities, HVAC, electrical systems, or safety-related disciplines.
· Experience managing facility infrastructure projects or capital improvements.
· Familiarity with regulatory inspections and contractor management.
· Experience with budgeting and maintenance KPI reporting.
