Description

The Assistant Director of Project Management is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and accuracy of both the Project Management and Prepress Technician teams. They are to contribute to both digital and manufacturing objectives for quality, productivity and service through appropriate incremental process improvements or re-engineering techniques as needed. They are responsible for identifying where training is needed to develop team members in areas of responsibility and line up the necessary resources to ensure that training is completed on a timely basis. The Assistant Director of Project Management is to understand, move towards and implement systems by developing and implementing empowered working teams to attain world-class operations standards. They are responsible for utilizing and for having a comprehensive understanding of various systems such as Adobe WorkFront, Tharstern, Infigo and Dropbox, Adobe Creative Suite and BCC Bulk Mailer. They are responsible for setting and maintaining deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring and summarizing the capabilities and functions of both Project Managers and Prepress Technicians.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Key driver under the direction of the Director of Print and Mailing Services for planning and master production schedules for all projects.
•Proactively communicate with all Project Management, Prepress and Production personnel to keep accountable to critical dates to ensure production schedule is met.
•Manage and accept responsibility daily for all assigned personnel as they perform digital production-related tasks.
•Determine staffing requirements weekly and re-deploy resources during the week as needed to address any shifting manning needs or changes in priorities and scheduling.
•Responsible for leading Project Management and Prepress teams to effectively manage print for assigned campaigns to ensure high quality, cost effective and timely production.
•Work proactively with vendors to ensure continuous improvement and optimal production solutions for new and existing software systems and concepts for both Project Managers and Prepress.
•Maintain up to date knowledge of all relevant postal requirements from the USPS and ensure compliance to regulations for assigned projects.
•Process and track mock-ups, prototypes, electronic templates and printer proofs.
•Proactively communicate supply chain issues to production team and coordinate accordingly.
•Participation and leadership of relationship and business reviews with key partners and vendors
•Remains abreast of existing and emerging projects by comprehending the project described from the client to ensure that the project is completed as the client has requested.
•Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering the ability to communicate efficiently with the project management team and with the production team.
•Manages POs in the Jaggaer system against open orders within the department.
•Completes charge backs for all completed projects in Jaggaer for work completed within the University.
•Creates invoices for all projects completed outside of the University and submit them to accounting for billing.
•Quote assigned projects for Printing & Mailing Services for both marketing and any project outside of marketing.
•Work in and remain up to date with Adobe WorkFront, Tharstern MIS system, Infigoweb to print system, Adobe Creative Suite and BCC Bulk Mailer.
•Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
•Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
•Oversee a staff of 9 employees and 1 student worker.•Responsible for the Project Managers and Prepress teams.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree required and 3-5 years’ experience in a publishing or purchasing print, lettershop, project management or supply chain management environment, with at least two years previous management experience
• Knowledge of the print production process of 4 color publications
• Exposure to USPS postal regulations a plus
• Strong attention to detail and operational workflow dynamics to effectively track and analyze the status within the production process

Communication and Comprehension
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information in a professional manner.
• Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of • Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent computer skills.

Physical and Sensory Abilities
•Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.
•Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
•Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
•Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
•Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
•Regularly lift 30 or fewer pounds.

•Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Working Environment
•The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office and production setting. It is well lit, and the noise level is moderate.

Driving Requirements
•Periodic driving of university vehicles may be required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

Pay Range

Compensation is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, along with University needs and external market conditions. Market benchmarks may be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity to ensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensation structure.


The position may also be eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and tuition assistance.

 

 

$60,000.00 - $70,000.00
