About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Platform Operations Engineer / Operations Support Engineer to provide Day-2 operational, maintenance, and patching support for enterprise Oracle platforms.
The role will support Production (PROD), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Development (DEV) environments and will be responsible for maintaining platform stability, security, availability, and compliance.
The successful candidate should have strong hands-on experience across Oracle Fusion Middleware, WebLogic, Oracle Database, Data Guard, and Oracle Enterprise Manager, particularly within mission-critical production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Day-2 operational and patching support across Oracle platforms.
- Monitor and assess quarterly Oracle Critical Patch Updates (CPU) and monthly Critical Security Patch Updates (CSPU).
- Conduct pre-patch assessments covering compatibility, dependencies, conflicts, vulnerabilities, and potential impact.
- Plan and schedule patching activities across DEV, UAT, and PROD environments.
- Stage patch binaries and prepare environments for implementation.
- Perform Oracle Home backups and ensure rollback and recovery readiness before patching.
- Execute patch deployment while minimising service disruption, particularly within production environments.
- Provide operational and patching support for Oracle HTTP Server (OHS).
- Support Oracle WebLogic Server and Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF).
- Support Oracle Forms and Reports and Oracle Fusion Middleware 14c environments.
- Support Oracle Database Enterprise Server 19c and Oracle Data Guard environments.
- Perform database patching within active/passive Data Guard architectures.
- Manage database switchover activities and validate database health, connectivity, listeners, redo transport, and synchronization.
- Support and patch Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 13c, including Management Servers, repository databases, and monitoring agents.
- Support patching and validation activities for Pro*C environments.
- Review vulnerability assessment findings, security reviews, and audit findings.
- Determine the applicability of identified vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate remediation actions.
- Implement approved patching, configuration hardening, and remediation activities.
- Conduct post-remediation validation and support vulnerability re-scanning activities.
- Raise and manage Oracle Service Requests (SRs) for patch-related technical issues.
- Coordinate with Oracle Support engineers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Perform post-patch validation, service health checks, and stabilization support.
- Troubleshoot middleware, database, application connectivity, and patch-related issues.
- Prepare patch documentation including CPU Assessment Risk Matrix, Method of Procedure (MOP), implementation schedules, rollback plans, validation records, and completion reports.
- Ensure all activities comply with operational, security, change management, and governance requirements.
- Support knowledge transfer and technical handover activities when required.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience administering Oracle Fusion Middleware environments, preferably 14c or above.
- Hands-on experience supporting Oracle Database 19c and Oracle Data Guard environments.
- Strong experience with Oracle HTTP Server (OHS).
- Strong experience with Oracle WebLogic Server.
- Experience with Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF).
- Experience supporting Oracle Forms and Reports.
- Experience with Oracle Database administration and patching.
- Experience supporting Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
- Experience working with Pro*C environments.
- Proven experience performing Oracle CPU patching.
- Experience supporting mission-critical production systems with minimal or no downtime.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle backup, rollback, recovery, and restoration procedures.
- Hands-on knowledge of Data Guard switchover and synchronization procedures.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Oracle middleware, databases, connectivity, and patch-related issues.
- Experience working within enterprise-scale or regulated environments with formal change, release, and configuration management processes.
- Strong documentation, stakeholder coordination, and incident-management skills.
- Able to support scheduled production maintenance activities after office hours, on weekends, and on public holidays when required.
